It's great to stay in a newish hotel where everything works, the beds are comfortable (it was great to have two different pillows on the bed so I could pick) and everything was wonderfully clean. The only gripe is that I really hate it when businesses (and hotels seem to be worst) don't include verything in the price. Credit card charges are an ongoing pet hate, and to then have to pay for parking, when that could just be factored in to the price, really bugs me.

First stay at this property as usual rates are high for the area. Did not get upgraded and room was nice even if it was a bit small. Had made two different bookings on personal and business credit cards which were merged to one account without consent and meaning that I could not use points against the personal booking

really nice and comfortable rooms, very quiet, especially since so close to the airport couldn’t hear a single plane. The shower is a bit strange, the water sprays straight out the opening and makes the bathroom floor very wet since there’s not a proper door. Couldn’t move the head further in to stop this either. Food was overpriced and not very good quality downstairs unfortunately, however with nothing else around didn’t have much else of an option. Also didn’t have a very large menu, found it hard to find something appealing. However, comfy chairs and atmosphere in the dining room. Shuttle bus service to the airport was also very convenient especially at 5am.

Greatly enjoyed the restaurant over two stays, would love the recipe to the vegetarian breakfast bean option available at the buffet. Perfectly cooked steaks both nights with compliments to the chef. Great staff with both Karen’s on the front desk being immensely helpful and Laura in the restaurant as well. All told a great stay. The only thing that was a possible detractor was the fact that the timing of the courtesy bus didn’t allow me to use it the day I left; Qantas staff prefer not to share the 6:45 am bus to the airport and the timing of other trips didn’t suit. But only a possible detractor as staff were not to blame and quite apologetic about it.

Check in was efficient, room was clean and well maintained. When checking out I asked the manager (I think she was the manager) for the baggage trolley, she had advised it must be on one of the floors. Aaaannnnd ..... and nothing else was said. I then had to ask (as she did not offer!) if I could please be phoned to advise when it was back, she seemed to think that was a good idea (which to be honest she should have offered without bring prompted). A few minutes later a lovely gentleman (suspect he was from maintenance) brought the trolley to my room and helped me by taking my luggage to my car. Even though I had paid for parking, the boom gate failed to recognise my car rego so I had to reverse back, and drive out the 'in' gate

It was good staying at Mercure Hotel. We had a good time in the gym and the food was delicious and the portion was big. The service was great. The room was great and very comfortable. Loved our stay. Arrived late in the day after a long drive from Qld and the welcome couldn’t have been better. Our souls were revived by drinks in the restaurant followed by dinner. My barramundi was excellent - the chef is a real asset to Mercure Newcastle. Bed was super-comfy and the facilities top notch. The staff were exceptional - I missed the 7.10am shuttle to the terminal, and asked for directions to the terminal, thinking I would walk. The staff member checking me out offered to drive me there “as I’m about to head home”. I think his name was Rob. Exceptional service that went above and beyond. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Really friendly staff. The reservation was all in order as requested. The room was very nice and VERY clean. The staff went out of their way to arrange for me to get refreshments even though their café was closed.

Great stay. Marcus on reception warmly greeted us and explained all of the amenities available to us. Our room service meal was excellent and again the girl that delivered the meal was very friendly.
