We recently stayed at the Mecure for an overnight stay on our way to Sydney from Kingscliff. After spending a week in a caravan park cabin, we decided to spend the extra $ for a 4* property, which naturally comes with higher expectations. I booked a room with two beds (I have a spinal injury and after being on the road for close to 9 hours, I needed my own space) we were put in a room with one bed to share. When we approached reception about this, we were told they couldn't change it as they were fully booked. I was told the manager would be notified and discuss with me on check-out but this never happened. The first two hours in our room were spent going up and down to reception because: there was no pen provided to fill out our breakfast menu, the phone had no reception/room service preset numbers shown so weren't sure how to call reception (the TV menu said dial 0 but that didn't work), there were no amenities provided (shampoo, conditioner or even simple hand soap), there were no glasses or mugs provided for tea/coffee/wine/water, the kettle button didn't stay on to boil water unless you held it down the whole time. While all of these are minor issues individually, that is a lot of inconvenience for one booking and not at all the 4* level of service you expect from Mecure. On a positive note, Emma on reception was fantastic in providing everything we needed as requested (minus the extra bed), the room service dinner and breakfasts were delicious and on time.

A lot of the amenities that we usually have in our rooms such as pens, glasses and coffee mugs are not provided due for this reason so our apologies that we cannot provide these at this time. No bar, no restaurant, no Gold member benefits like a drink or room upgrade. Was suprised to pay parking given a better located Mercure has free parking in Newcastle (& always has done room upgrades). I did like the quality of the room. However I won’t stay in this location again.

Good value for a new facility and staff were very helpful. The room service dinner was good but would have been better if the dinner area was open with covid-19 pretty much under control in NSW. The room temperature couldn't be set below 20 degrees which was a bit annoying. Would have liked it to be 18 degrees.

The bathing area is a bad design (the water will go everywhere) When there are too much bubble in the sink it will go through the pipe and get on the floor too

Disappointing, We thought you’d be glad for the business however being charged for parking when there are hardly any other guests in house.... and especially with all the road works outside......the room should have undergone renovations during lockdown as the bathroom basin had many cracks and god knows how many bugs were harboured there. There was a dent in the wall above the bench? One roll of toilet paper in the bathroom and one piece of soap to service the basin and shower. Did not like the paper cups and enough tea bags & milk for one cup each. No glasses in the room? Very disappointed

Landscaping and entrance a disaster due partly to roadworks. This gives a bad vibe to your arrival at the Hotel. Hotel was clean and staff friendly but to have no restaurant open for dinner or breakfast is a poor show indeed. Better to be fully closed than half open.

My room was clean, neat and tidy as always, however COVID meant that there were limited staff, limited amenities in my room, and a limited room service menu available. Whilst the team did there very best to ensure my stay was comfortable - a usual incredible dining experience was average. Food and menu choice average, room supplies limited, staff limited.

Arrived late but staff were very professional. Evening meals were excellent although breakfast was a little disappointing as some of the food has been prepared well before and was a little "old". Not the Cook's fault, more that not many people were having breakfast

excellent very happy great service and great dinner etc . just the water pressure shower needs a little more , cause you have to sit there and stay in the shower for a bit longer to wash your body properly , due to very low water pressure , , were if you had more water pressure. your in the shower and out within 5 minates thats using less water makes sence , that is why you take your car or similer at the car cleaners they use water pressure so your car and human body gets cleaned washed way better and way more faster 5 minates due to having good water pressure ,see what i mean ,, i am sure , water costs nothing the dams are way overfull with water all this tv etc is all just liers and publicity the water dams you see LOW on TV is very old photoes taken 15 years ago so makes everyone crazy no water , . any way thanks for the stay will be looking for our next stay .
