Great stay in a character filled hotel

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

Warrens_of_Conder TripAdvisor review

Ok so if you are looking for a uber modern hotel, this is probably not the place for you, but if you are looking for an historic, character filled and somewhat eclectic hotel, with genuine hospitality, then this is the place for you! The hotel is full of historic charm and with its resident ghost (Marcia on reception can tell you the story) free parking, creaky floors and quiet location, it's a great place to stay. Rooms are very clean with modern bathrooms, comfortable beds and all the mod cons needed. Recommend a stay here if you are in the area.

Dated but comfortable

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

renee_galvin Couples - TripAdvisor review

We had previously read the reviews and had concerns. But we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very large and comfortable. The bed, sheets and pillows were great. There were lots of modern conveniences such as pods machines and a well equipped bathroom. Yes the hotel was dated but it was clearly a heritage building. Staff were friendly and it was so peaceful. Definitely recommended.

A different old world experience

Despite being a little off the beaten track, ACCOR is to be commended for providing accommodation in this converted bishop’s house/orphanage dating from the early 1900s at a most competitive rate. The very comfortable enormous room had all the modern conveniences including the luxurious queen bed. The breakfast was of average standard but the helpings gargantuan - a single serving of bacon and scrambled eggs on toast easily satisfied two hungry people. The attentive staff easily compensated for the lack of a barista. Parking is ample in the rustic surrounds.

We were very happy with our stay here Staff helpful...Our room was clean and comfortable, We really enjoyed our meal at the restaurant The Pines.. Meals were hot...Presented well and big portions .Came with lovely steamed vegetables..which we didn't have to pay xtra for...which these days is unusual.. If we lived nearby we would come to the restaurant often

A true realty of Covid

TripAdvisor rating 3.0/5

Grand old lady of the past, unfortunately Covid has brought this old girl to her knees, shabby furniture, sad staff, stayed just the one night had dinner which was ok but spoilt by a loud mouthed diner. The staff ignored him which was probably for the better The bedroom was good and the linen was ok.
