Good value & Very handy when visiting Maitland
suequerruel 29/12/2020 TripAdvisor review
Monte Pio is a great spot if you're visiting the Maitland area. The building is a heritage building & has the old world charm. The view from our room was lovely. The decor was alittle outdated in the room however usable. The space in the room was excellent for our needs (travelling with a 3mth old we chose a double bed & single bedded room & there was plenty of room to move & store bags & a pram).
Great stay

Great stay, room with amazing spa bath! Monique was a great host! Felt very safe with many COVID measures in place. A lovely historic place to stay close to the centre of Maitland. Would definitely stay here again.
Good clean comfortable rooms

Nice rooms, quiet location. Bit of a rabbit warren layout of rooms. Receptionist had several roles but over the top with her customer service, on verge of annoying. I ordered scotch fillet and received an overdone tough sirloin instead. Mentioned this to the waitress and she said they had run out of scotch fillet even though there was only one other person in the whole restaurant. Handled very poorly.
Monte Pio Hotel Historic Maitland
hensby1 28/07/2020 TripAdvisor review
My husband and I had an overnight stay at the historic Monte Pio. We were attending a small reunion locally and chose this hotel for its historic beauty. However, we felt the service was lacking and the facilities wanting. I had to recheck my reservation because I was sure the hotel staff made a mistake and had thought I was a lone traveler. The bed seemed sooo small and yet it was supposed to be a queen size. I had paid for 2 x breakfasts and they had us down as only 1. I was given a welcome drink, only 1 when there were 2 of us. I had arranged a late check out but we had been locked out of our room after 10am. Breakfast was a bit of a hit and miss. Staff stated they could not provide tea cups due to COVID 19 and so only the small coffee cups were set out. It just did not live up to expectations.
Tired

The reception staff were lovely and friendly and made checking in under corona conditions easy. The rest of the stay not as great. The hotel felt neglected. Our room was tired and in need of TLC - curtains didn't fit properly, there was a lingering smell of old cigarette smoke, only one mug provided for tea/coffee. Worst of all, despite being the middle of winter, there was no electric blanket provided and only scratchy blankets, no doona. We were cold all night.
