We stayed with our young grandson in a family room for just the one night. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was well appointed, including 3 TVs! Clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Comfortable beds. Well appointed kitchen. Our grandson enjoyed the pool and the snacks and refreshments that were provided as part of my Gold membership. The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the Honeysuckle light rail stop. Will definitely stay again.

Sad to say it was forgettable. The hotel needs a refurbishment, the rooms being gloomy & uninviting. Granddaughter commented as soon as we walked in that the room was 'smelly'. The bathroom a disaster waiting to happen, with small bath & shower over. My son, at over 6ft, had great difficulty manoeuvring around the shampoo/body wash attachment at the height it was positioned. The toilet seat ... it at least had us laughing as it made the most peculiar 'creaking' noise as it closed!!! The dining area was again dismal & very crowded ... we went down just after 6.30am and it was already full ... squeezing between tables and people wasn't pleasant. The breakfast, however, was good. Coffee - didn't try. I paid $247 for the night, plus a shocking extra $16 for outdoor car parking. Value for money - I don't think so. Mercure should actually be ashamed of themselves with this offering in Newcastle. Sorry my review isn't more positive but it is truthful.
