No views only a car park and a huge tree

We stayed in room 10 Worst room we have ever stayed in The apartment was nice inside but No view of anything even though we paid almost $600 for a 2 bedroom apartment for 3 nights our room was behind a big tree full of stink bugs that were all over the furniture outside they were all over the verandah Smoking area was directly under our verandah so smokers 2nd hand smoke came up, pool view was non Existent There was construction across the rd so too noisy to sit outside on verandah as they were using jack hammers parking was a nightmare too far away from our room when u have to carry luggage Free Internet does not work not a good trip Would never stay again Very dissapointing

`we had a lovely large apartment that overlooked the pool. Everything around Port Stephens is so convenient to the Mantra and the service and appointments at the hotel were first rate. would definitely stay there again

Mould with a champagne price tag

After writing directly to the hotel specfically asking that the GM respond several weeks ago, I am yet to get a response from our disappointing stay. We stayed in Room 95 on Wednesday 17th September 2025. We arrived late and checked out early due to long days of driving, so had no real time to discuss these issues with staff. We paid $380 for what we expected would be a great room. However we were extremely disappointed with our room. Construction sites both sides and a view of a backyard. We understand these things can't be helped, but what can be helped is the disgusting amount of mould that was in the bathrooms. We were totally flawed that this room can even be rented out. The cleanliness of the rooms was average. Door handles and kitchen handles were greasy and sand in the washing machine. Plenty of Maintenance to be done here to, chipped walls and doors everywhere, with raw mdf showing on kitchen drawers. The whole room just felt uncomfortable and unhomely. The large main room could do with a couch or TV or something to fill the massive amount of space. For the $380 we spent to try and have a nice treat for our kids during two long days of travel, we were extremely disappointed with the quality we thought Mantra was known for. The absolute worst part was the mould. It is visible everywhere. I've attached couple of pictures but have more. The spa jets were also not working at the pool for our stay. I don't know if we were just given a quick room as we booked so late, but we feel we got the beer budget room with the champagne price tag. $380 for a mouldy room. Extremely disappointed and upset we spent this money for what we received. Nelson Bay was lovely, but this hotel was not. Extremley disspointed not to have heard back from the GM regarding these issues and the price charged to stay in a very sub standard room.

Our stay at the Mantra for 3 nights was terrific. Lovely large space in our room, staff were very friendly and obliging and the location was fantastic, very easy to get down town. Parking close to rooms, very good value, low noise and nice balconies to enjoy. Thoroughly recommend, will definately stay at Mantra Nelson Bay again
