Reaching Accor team back is very difficult

Customer review rating 1.0/5

Ibrar M. Solo - Confirmed reviews ALL

Hi, I stayed at IBIS budget in Newcastle NSW using 4000 accor points and was only supposed to pay a few dollars at the time of check-in. Instead, full payment was deducted from my account. After multiple tries of reaching out to the hotel which mostly failed, I got my points back but still full amount was charged. My points were expiring that's why I used them but now they are back and showing as already expired. Very disappointed.

great for quick overnight stay

Excellent stay. Very friendly reception, rooms small and minimal but perfect for a quick overnight. Very comfy bed, relatively quite room. Pleasant stay.

Handy to shops and all amenities

Stayed 2 nights, friendly welcome from receptionist she was very helpful and told me it was only a short walk to the shops and to find the path, through the park which I did the next day.

A pleasant stay.

We asked for a quiet room. We were given a room right near the reception area. All night the door was opening and closing, people talking in the foyer. In the middle of the night, someone was cooking in their room. The smell was very unpleasant. This was not the first time we have stayed here. The first time was a better experience.

Suitable for one night

The stay was satisfactory. Bed was comfy, but the room standard could be better. The bathroom had peeling paint which was a bit of a let down. Plug sockets were no where near the bed side. A kettle, fridge and complimentary tea, coffee n milk were provided. The staff were pleased and helpful. The prebooked breakfast was no longer available so that was refunded.

Firstly google brings IBIS budget up when you search hotels Newcastle airport. I should of checked. The front desk staff were actually really friendly and helpful so a positive there. I have stayed in an IBIS budget before so I was expecting a small room. I did not expect dirty linen and the horrendous road noise. Very little sleep was had

Dirty

Whilst I understand that the ibis budget hotel is cheap, we still expected clean and reasonable. The carpet has stains everywhere. The bed sheets are stained, the bathroom was horrible and made me feel sick. These are basic expectations and none of them were met.

Complaint room 128 Wallsend 2 night stay. Never again!

Room floor was dirty, with grapes near door (very obvious!) and food crumbs on floor. Chose not to see reception at the time as my partner needed to go to bed to sleep after having just come off a night shift. Figured we wouldnt be in room much so put up with it. Little did we know it was only the first of our problems. Realised that night that bin not emptied from previous guest so assuming room had in fact not been cleaned. Very worrying in these covid times. Thankfully we did have clean linen and towels. Fridge froze our milk overnight, didnt appear to be anywhere to adjust temperature of fridge, had to go out and buy breakfast at a cafe at addition expence instead of cereal in our room. Luckily our soft drink cans didnt explode but did make a mess when they were opened the next day. Air conditioning couldnt be adjusted, wall unit and remote display appeared to work but made no difference to temperature in room. Display on wall a/c unit showed 26 deg for whole 2 day stay, nothing would change it, made for very uncomfortable night sleeping after a 30 degree day outside. Swipe card wouldnt work next day to access room, luckily we returned to room in reception hours or would not have been unable to access room. We were last room before fire door on ground floor. Room 128. Fire door was propped open with a lump of cement and people coming and going through this door rather than reception, during the day. Assuming as a fire door, as the sign said, it had to be kept closed. Very obvious it was propped open by staff, as full linen bags outide the open door. Bathroom door could not be closed without slamming it shut, very loud, thankfully we had showers at a resonable hour so our neighbours would not be disturbed. Very conscious of keeping door closed during showers for fire alarm. Woke up morning of departure to find an ever increasing pool of water at the end of the bed. Appeared to be running down internal wall and pooling on floor, and within 30 mins was covering about a metre length area along wall to bathroom door. Could not get from on side of the room to the other without getting feet wet. Reception was notified as soon as we discovered this. Keeping in mind we were on the ground floor so unsure where this water was coming from, but was raining at the time. We have stayed here numerous times for at least 20 years, it is usually where we choose to stay when coming to Newcastle. I understand and apprecitae it is a budget style accomodation, and we normally like staying there as its nice and quiet and beds are good, but will be our last time staying there. What was supposed to be a mini break for my partner and I after not being away together for some time due to covid, turned into a very unpleasant stay. My partner and I were very dissappointed to have our 2 day break wrecked by the accommodation. Thankfully we had a good time when not in our room. As an Accor member, and having booked through the Accor app, I expected better.

Not a good location, but good price

Nothing to complain about the hotel itself. In fact the person in reception called me to make sure I was coming to leave the instructions for after hour entry...all good Had very bad experiences with uber drivers who connect and eventually drop out/cancel, Taxis are ok. The clients should know this story with Uber drivers in this area

Well located, as expected, friendly staff on front desk

I had a room towards the main road. Lots of noise by road traffic. Would have been better facing the car park side. Secondly pricing through website was cheaper $85 per night. But direct was expensive 2 nights was $236. Thus suggest management look at pricing structure. Same room but different price.

Not Charged Correctly

I had my booking sheet with me but was still charged incorrectly I now need to follow up .I could not book to stay using Accor points and had to call to do it and I still had a problem with billing and being overcharged desk. I was grateful for the disabled park at the front door as it was raining and was glad there was a ground floor room for me as there is no lift
