I have stayed a few Accor properties since becoming an Accor member and this was by far the worst experience. The room location was two doors away from the front desk where all night I could hear the activities of the front desk, including every time this person coughed. The walls were marked from luggage and people hitting them. The room also had a terrible odor. Rethinking the value of being an Accor member and what am I getting for the cost of my membership.

While the hotel is very basic, it was comfortable and clean. The receptionist (Emma) was helpful and was customer focussed.

A quick overnight stay to break the journey north. Friendly and efficient check in but I’m glad I arrived before reception shut because the after hours kiosk was out of order. Wasn’t impressed with the uncovered neon (or LED?) tubes. Get a new brand of soap that actually lathers. Otherwise for the bargain price I got a bed and bathroom in a safe location.

Friendly reception staff (Emma). Room tiny, and near the corner of a big, busy and noisy intersection, but double glazing muted the noise and the bed was comfy, so we slept well. Bar fridge better than some we’ve encountered in much grander hotels. A big of plumbing noise from adjacent rooms, but again, not too bad. Main minuses were the difficult step up into the shower/toilet cubicle, no room cleaning, towel replacement if staying more than one night, and the location — a 30 min drive into inner Newcastle. We good a good price deal for two nights, so not complaining.

Picked this hotel as its location was close to the McDonald Johns Stadium. However when I booked this hotel I added breakfast which was not available. I am still waiting on my refund from them. The pillows were unacceptable too.

The booking process was quick and easy and when I arrived the reception was warm and friendly. They even helped my with a request for a ground floor room to avoid the stairs, much appreciated. The room was tidy and clean, bed comfy and shower hot. Parts of the room were showing it's age, but for a weary traveller, it was acceptable. The TV remote and A/C remote were missing from the room, but the temperature was fine anyway and I had no need for TV. The only really disappointing aspect was the price on the billboard out the front was quite a bit lower than booking online, that was pretty frustrating as I had already booked and paid.

IBIS BUDGET NEWCASTLE - HARD TO BE CRITICAL IN COVID-19 TIMES BUT ROOM FOR AIMING HIGHER & PROVIDING A BETTER EXPERIENCE We arrived a bit early and were shocked to discover the reception desk was NOT attended between 10 am to 12 pm. There was no indication on the website and perhaps a note attached to the hotel booking confirmation of this "odd" absence during business hours, should be included? Unfortunately, we were a bit flummoxed as it was our very first time in Newcastle, we were unfamiliar with the area and amenities of Wallsend, as we had come directly from the airport. We were literally, "locked out"! There was no suitable place to wait and no-one in sight to help us drop our bags and go. When the receptionist did arrive, he was very well-mannered and welcoming. Our room was "budget". There was no welcoming drink or bottled water, however, we were given a munchie pack of 3 bite-sized treats, which were delicious. Our TV control was broken but it was replaced without a fuss. There was only towels and soaps. [ie. no tea, coffee, water, shampoo etc.] Although a breakfast option is advertised on the Accor Plus and the main Accor site: Accor Live Limitless [ALL] upon arriving at the hotel we were informed that due to Covid-19, it is not available at present. Had we known that this option were not available, we would have selected a different Accor property. Likewise, although a kettle was provided, there were no tea, coffee or milk sachets or single-use items provided although there was a microwave available for guests in the reception area and some disposable cups and plastic cutlery available upon request. [Hopefully, there is a conscientious cleaner who ensures that these items are recycled and not thrown into landfill !!!!] We found other Staff to be the same pleasant manner and friendly, however, given Covid-19, there is minimal service and only one person on-duty to perform all tasks. We thought that there was room for improvement in terms of the cleanliness of the shower and floors, but in support of probably the hard-working Staff, there is probably a skeleton number due to Covid-19 and the fittings and fixtures are a bit old and worn. We found that Ibis Budget Newcastle was true to its name and would suggest, perhaps, without a lot of expenditure, the owner could lift this property from what it really a 2.5 Star property to perhaps, 3.5 Stars and provide a better hotel experience and ambiance for its guests.

The hotel was budget but perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. The room was spotlessly clean and road noise was minimal. I found that the bed was hard and uncomfortable and the pillow lumpy which impeded on my night's sleep but not really too much of a concern for one night. Loved the late check in available as we arrived at around 9.30 pm and the desk attendant was friendly and professional.

If you are looking for a quick overnight stay to rest your eyeballs for the eve & for cheap then you get what you pay for. The bed was pretty solid and your right next to the main road with constant traffic. Wouldn’t recommend for older folk with minimal mobility as there’s a large step in/out of the ensuite.

Overpowering chemicals

I completely understand that cleaning is paramount but the over use of Glen 20 is overpowering. It is used everywhere in the hotel to the point I could not breath. I was unable to stay there. The next hotel I was able to go to was $40 more than this one.Not happy. Please remember that toxic chemicals can caused to major allergic reactions - I am lucky I did not end up in hospital. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here for the foreseeable future.
