Online the hotel looked good and the room nicely finished but the reality was different. Firstly the good part, the reception team were very friendly and efficient and the reception area looked modern and fresh. Then the disappointment came when we opened the room door. The carpet was very badly frayed where it met the tiled area of the room with the strands of carpet sticking up into the air and unmistakably very obvious. The furniture looked like it was from a second hand shop in the 70's, chipped and in bad repair. The towel rail in the bathroom was loose and wobbly and not far from falling off the wall. Where is the maintenance and in fact where is the management to oversee this sort of thing ?? At least the cleaners should have alerted the maintenance team to these issues. Where is the initiative? Also there was a tiny basin in the bathroom with nowhere to put even the smallest amount of toiletries, meaning we had to put them on the floor or on the toilet seat. However worst of all, we had booked a superior room with a balcony and view of the water to ensure an enjoyable stay but we WERE NOT INFORMED that there was a wedding on that day and the reception was directly under our balcony. So forget sitting out there to enjoy a quiet drink together. We paid $540 for that room, which is a hefty price for Kiama, thinking it would be worth the extra cost and yet we were given a room with loud noise outside from 3pm to 11pm, with the hotel knowing full well that it would ruin a stay for anyone above the noise, but obviously didn't divulge this just to keep the money rolling in to the hotel. You can imagine the increasing volume and duff duff music towards the end of the night, not to mention the voices of wedding guests who had been drinking for many hours. This was supposed to be a lovely relaxing stay with my husband but turned into a trial to get through the evening. That is definitely unacceptable and unforgiveable. We are Accor members and are quite disallusioned by what we experienced. Sebel used to be a reliable brand but apparently no longer. Hugely disappointing stay. In fact we are very angry about the whole thing. No point in saying anything to the lovely reception people. The problem with the hotel is definitely above their pay rate and we didn't want to spoil their day.

Perfect location for easy walk to cafes, ocean, Shopping and tourist spots. Great undercover parking in case you get a rainy day. The staff were happy and friendly. The room was large and comfortable with a lounge to sit and relax. The bathroom let you down for a perfect score of 10. The bathroom was large but the pedestal basin offered no spot to put any toiletries or even soap to wash hands. The pedestal basin also made it very difficult to put water in the kettle.

I had a two bedroom suite. The second room was a filled in balcony .No aircon that reached into the bedrooms. We were there for a wedding , we had guests that needed wheel chair access. The access was very poor only one section of the hotel that was able to be accessed by a wheel chair. $600 per.night is a stretch . Do better Sebel .

Dear Nicole, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am always pleased to hear our staff provided pleasant interactions but I’m very sorry to hear that there were parts that did not meet expectations. I understand how essential comfortable sleeping spaces are, the second bedroom you refer to has the clouded glass to allow natural light, but I understand that this isn't always what is preferred. Kiama's humidity sometimes beats our AC, but our team always has options to help cool the room down should they be aware during your stay. Regarding reliable wheelchair access, all areas of our hotel are accessible by wheelchair. Our team is always available to help direct the easiest path for you should you need alternate access. I understand it can feel like a maze if you aren't aware of directions and I am sorry that this wasn't explained better, it is not the experience we want anyone to have. We recognise the trust guests place in us when paying premium rates, and I’m sorry that the value you expected wasn’t reflected in your stay.
