Mixed feelings about our stay. The building and the grounds are lovely but there are a lot of problems. The window in our room didn’t shut and the air conditioning didn’t work. We reported this twice before anything was done about it. A towel shoved in the window gap seemed to be the only option and the air conditioning eventually warmed up. The paint around the windows is chipped and the frames are rusty. The sink in the bathroom is the tiniest we have ever seen and water sprayed everywhere if you weren’t really careful when turning on the tap. The rooms are small, we’re glad we upgraded to the bigger ones. I understand it is an old hotel with smaller rooms but renovations could be done to make better use of the space available. The hotel seemed poorly staffed. No one cleared the tables in the bar all evening. Every surface was covered in cups and glasses. The food in the restaurant was hit and miss. The calamari we shared for an entree was inedible. So tough. We reported this but the waitstaff only shrugged and nothing was taken off the bill which was disappointing. In terms of positives the bed was comfy and we enjoyed the grounds when the sun came out. I wouldn’t stay again. It’s a very expensive hotel for what is ultimately about a 3 star experience.

We had been looking forward to our visit to Craigieburn The front office receptionist was excellent Nothing was a trouble We ate in the restaurant on 3 occasions The staff were rude and offhand Just could not be bothered The choice of food very limited and quite dreadful The servicing of our rooms was not adequate e.g. the cleaning staff did not empty our bins, did not leave clean cups,did not replace the amenities kit Having pointed out the inadequaties our stay was still pleasant

On arrival no-one at reception for a good 10 minutes. Ended up singing out for someone to appear. Paul specifically a ground floor room due to medical incapacity and we were then give a 1st floor room. The bedside tables in the room were dusty and the room was very small. Not what we expected as Accor Gold members.

Lovely venue, good accommodation & excellent food.
