Rather downmarket area, only close food available early in takeaways. Access from road only via steps - difficult with bags.Pleasant enough room. Helpful staff arranged early morning call and taxi. Much further from private hospital than expected. Overpriced.

Room 520 - Owned by Accom Stays - Located level 5 inside Mantra Hotel The actual room was at first pleasant, with a small ocean view, but had this distinct smoke aftertaste after spending the first 2hrs in the room. The first night we enjoyed the sudden bursts of cigarette inhallation and had a 2hr sleep, the balcony door offered less clean oxygen so it had to be closed. Over the course of the 2nd night, the spa bath and jets from above were turned on a 12pm, 2.02am, 3.30am and you get my drift. No hotel receptionist answered our calls and there was no way to contact hotel managment. In the meantime this person living above was having a great time enjoying chain smoking and you guessed it, i had my first asthma attack at 4.44am. None the less, i believe even the walls are hollow and the ventilation carries smoke consistently throughout room 520 on level 5. Thank you for my asthma and bloody nose. Also enjoy the safety defects of the circuit breaker exposed to all fellow visitors, make sure you keep your hand away when you open the wordrobe door. Safety time fellows, too much dodgines going on there

An unusable kitchen

I decided to start at the Mantra as it was advertised as having a fully equipped kitchen. Imagine my surprise on my first morning to discover there was no fry pan and I was unable to cook breakfast. As there is no 24hr reception I tried phoning the number that was on the sign at the front desk. The girl who answered is obviously answering the phone for multiple hotels. She was nice enough but unable to help and unable to contact anyone who could. I expressed how upset I was, as I had paid significantly more than other hotels so that I could cook in the room. She told me someone would call me about the problem and discuss a partial refund. It is now nearly four weeks later and I'm yet to receive that call. There was a fry pan left in my room sometime that afternoon. I tried to cook the next morning, only to discover there was no cooking utensils either. The room was nice enough and the bed was comfortable. However it's woeful to advertise a room as having a fully equipped kitchen when it clearly is not.

Dont even think about it

Upon arrival lobby looked and smelt very nice . Went to pay and was charged car parking on. their premises unaware that it was extra. Checked in and we had a 2 bedroom unit at $316.00 per night . So disappointed was travelling and decided to splurge. The room was very outdated and filthy furniture from the 1980s the white kitchen appliances has turned yellow the tap sang a song in the pipes when in use. the kitchen crockery was filthy as was the couch and the carpets. The window sills were all eroded and rotting. At this price i expected just a little luxury as i dont splurge very often. Do yourselves a favour and stay elsewhere you wont be sorry. Oh and the area is very dodgy as well unless you want a vape or a Thai masssage . Lets not talk about dust as another said you could grow potatoes in the dust.

You couldn’t pay me to stay here again! It’s just dire!

I don’t usually do regrets - but I wish I had read the Trip Advisor reviews before I booked this. I have stayed at Accor hotels in the past and they have always been excellent. This was the first time I had stayed under the Mantra brand and it will be the last. We were travelling through NSW to get to Sydney Airport to fly to Tasmania and I thought this was a good place to rest for the night - I was wrong! The hotel is beyond tired, in fact it should be razed to the ground and rebuilt. The reception has limited opening hours and whilst the area is clean the rest of the hotel isn’t. Your first experience is the single very slow lift that takes forever to use. When you enter the room you are greeted with old furniture that is beyond its best and grubby. The dining table is repaired and held together with angle brackets. The kitchen counter had a significant burn mark on it. The appliances were so old they were yellow when once they were white. The curtains were hanging off the rail in the main bedroom. The sliding glass doors to the balcony were filthy. The insect screens had significant holes in them. There is only air conditioning in the lounge area and not in the bedrooms this unit dripped condensation on to the carpet right over a power socket. This had been dripping for so long that the wall it was mounted on had water stains all the way down it. The tv had children’s finger prints all over the screen and the dust on the unit was so thick you could grow potatoes in it. The on-suite bathroom as so small you had to close the door to get to the toilet and when you used the shower it sprayed more water out of the back of the shower head than hit your body. This drenched the floors outside the shower. Kitchen floors were not clean with both sticky and greasy areas. Mouldy tea towels and cracked cups. The lighting in the living area was extremely dim with only one operating bulb in the ceiling lights that should have two and no table lights so main lights or nothing. In summary this hotel was dirty and needs extensive investment. Considering the cost it was very poor value for money. You couldn’t pay me to stay here again! The sad thing is the hotel doesn’t care, if you read other reviews you will find very similar comments in other reviews. This hotel simply doesn’t learn!
