George B Couples - TripAdvisor review

We stayed here for family wedding and were charged $AUD330 per night - we had a balcony suite. We assuemd that this resort was four star resort - how wrong we were. Breakfast was included in the room rate - the breakfast was good - hot and cold meals and all the usual - cereals, toast, tea, coffee etc. - a definite PLUS The room was HUGE - it had a king size bed, TV, fridge, Microwave, iron, ironing board - all the usual you would expect On our first night - we had a family group dinner - a sad disappointment - the entree was prawns (which were OFF) or arancini - so so. The main course was barramundi (if it was barramundi) - poached with lots of baked potatoes or beef. The meal was a great disappointment The room had major issues - the TV did not work - with a note attached that due to bad weather there is no signal for free to air stations - Foxtel was available but no chance to get free to air through foxtel. The room had a "kitchenette"- microwave and fridge - with NO crockery all - just two cups and two glasses and the cutlery consisted of a teaspoon and two desert spoons - very disappointing. There is no chance to make some food for yourself The bathroom was as expected - however ther was no special soaps or shampoos - just the ordinary refill containers - not what you would expect in a four star hotel. The bathroom could have used a make over or a lick of paint The bed - we had a king bed which was a hard as a billard table - so we had bugger all sleep - a definite MINUS Last of all - during our stay our room was NOT made up by housekeeping at any time - a DEFINITE MINUS There are many accomodation choices in Gerringong and I would not reccomend the Mercure resort - find somewhere else. We have stayed at many Accor mercure hotels/resorts around the world and this is the most we have ever paid and we were sadly disappointed - AVOID unless you enjoy being overcharge for what can only be described as poor accomadation value

I got there around 10PM and reception door was closed and I did receive any message or email about my room number or how to get to my room! Just one missed call with and no voice message! Room was outdated and need renovation. Not recommend this hotel for stay.

Neat clean comfortable rooms!

Went with a family of 4. Rooms were neat clean and comfortable, helpful and friendly staff. They could improve on the pool cleanliness and heat in cold weather. Close to restaurants and a few minutes from beach.. would definitely recommend!

My wife and I booked in a standard room king bed for $303.00. We thought this was a 4-star hotel as advertised. The bathroom was very outdated and in poor condition. The towel rail was very rusted as was the drain in the bathtub. The shower was in the bathtub. There was no restaurant no breakfast or dinner. that was reserved for bicycle riders from overseas. The hotel is at the end of town so if you required anything you would have to drive. I could go on and on. Very disappointed. I would rate this hotel 2.5 star

A gem only a short distance from city's hustle and bustle

My husband and son took me for a weekend trip to Gerringong and we stayed at the Mercure. This was my first time staying at Mercure Gerringong Resort and I can tell that we would come back for more. With only 75 minutes drive from our home in south Sydney, this beautiful little gem is an absolutely wonderful place to relax. The staff were lovely, friendly and all smiles. The room is spacious and we slept so well thanks to the comfortable bed. When I was looking at Bella Char restaurant menu for our dinner, I saw that although it isn't big menu but there is something for everyone to enjoy and was blown away by the quality of food. The food was exceptionally good! The restaurant staff gave my son a container of marshmallows for him to roast on the fire pit so we sat by the fire after dinner just chilling and talking. We were joined by other hotel guests, most of them came from Sydney like us, and we shared the same opinion that our stay at this resort is really enjoyable. We also visited the spa and experienced couples massage. We walked out of the spa feeling as if we were floating in the air. Gerringong itself is a small town only 10 minutes drive from Kiama, we strolled around the town center and visited a couple of shops, we also enjoyed meals at a cafe overlooking the cliff and a restaurant nearby. It was surprisingly busy considering that we visited in the middle of winter. I could imagine how lively the town will be in summer. When we left, we realized that we accidently left our son's cuddly bear in the room... well, guess what! It is on its way back home to us. The resort's General Manager so kindheartedly rescued it and sent it back so it can be be reunited with us. Needless to say, we already planned to come back. Our next visit will be in summer. I hope David and his wonderful team wouldn't be sick of seeing us.
