Nice Location, but....

We have been at the Mercure Legian for 14 nights in September 2022. As the staff told us they restarted operating only three months earlier. The staff achieved 5 stars plus: very friendly, helpful and very courteous. But that was the only highlight. The hotel was quite dirty. When we arrived, our room smelled moldy and we found a lot of dirty spots all over the room..there wre stains all over the room, I didn´t want to know where they came from... the hotel was so crowded that we couldn´t change rooms right away. We have been offered another room one day later - this was as bad as ours so that we stayed in our room. We asked the manager on duty for a room with balcony which was offered to us after another day. We decided to change rooms because with the balcony with view to the upper pool was worth it. Still the romm wasn´t clean, stains in the bathroom, on the walls again. And the curtain has turned black on the spot where you are supposed to touch to open it before entering the balcony.... but at least we had the balcony. First they tried to charge us another 220 Euro for the balcony room. Only when I protested they gave in. It seemed like the breakfast was more or less aligned to asian people: rice, noodles, veggies, fish, soup. The vontinental breakfast was more or less every day the same: no fresh juices, tasted like sugar water. Each and every day baked beans, fried or scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, pancakes, waffles. Salad. The same 4 fruit every day: Water melon, Papaya, Pineapple and one type I couldn´t sort out. But always the same. There are so many fascinating fruit in Bali like Dragon Fruit, Mangosteen, Snake Fruit - only to name a few.. but not at the hotel. The yogurt tasted very strange. Only normal coffee was included, you had to pay extra für coffee secialities like Cappuccino or Latte Macchiato. It´s quite loud because of the traffic noise (there is only one rush hour in Bali - that is 24/7...) The menu for dinner is rather small, for vegetarians it´s rather hard to find anything on the menu. And don´t go for the Pizza, you can have a great Pizza exactly opposite to the hotel... The position of the hotel is ok, it´s a five minute walk to the beach and to the main shopping area just about two minutes. The neighbor Seminyak with nice little boutique shops takes a 15 minute walk. Again, the staff is great. The rest of the hotel not.

I was writing this review before check out. Stayed here with my wife and my 3 y.o boy. The hotel is O.K, the breakfast is O.K. No major minus, yet not an outstanding one. The reason why i gave 5 stars is because the way they respond to my family needs. The highlight is when the bring a new fridge from different floor because the minibar fridge in my my room is not working well while i need to keep milk for my boy there. At the same day, they also want to change my bedsheet in the afternoon because my boy accidentaly drop his milk on the bed. Amazing stay and will deff comeback. Btw, their location amazing.

not a very good stay after 3 years

The air-conditioning filter needs to be cleaned out. Your staff constantly put the air conditioning at 15 degrees when it was between 25-30 degrees outside. We arrived home on sunday and I have been sick ever since. Elevators were always dirty. Am a seasoned traveller to Bali and will seriously rethink staying with your hotel
