5-Star Staff in a 3.5-Star Hotel

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

Resort08207732318 Couples - TripAdvisor review

This hotel is rated 5-star but that appears to be an exaggeration. The only thing about this hotel that is 5-star are the staff, who were all terrific. We stayed for two weeks and were in a Grand Deluxe room with a garden view. That room was lovely and spacious with wonderful views from the top floor. There is a lot of maintenance going on throughout the hotel, with repainting and rewiring. Things are being improved and this didn’t inconvenience us at all. Our flight home was cancelled meaning we had to stay an extra two nights and our room was already booked, so we had to move to a Deluxe room. That room was musty and smelly. The room was located at the side of the hotel, overlooking the busy road outside. If you’ve been to Kuta/Legian, you know how busy and noisy that road is. The door and windows to the balcony are single-glazed so offered almost no sound-proofing from the incessant racing noise of mopeds. We were both woken by the sounds of noisy, high speed mopeds racing past the hotel multiple times throughout the night. The hotel pools are nice but they got quite busy, even outside of school holidays. There were several times where all sun loungers were taken. The poolside bars are very good and the staff are really friendly. The infinity pool has a resident DJ in the afternoon and a saxophonist several times per week. Both are very talented. The hotel gym is quite small and the ac doesn’t seem able to cope with the heat and humidity. There is a reasonable selection of machines but you had better hope it is quiet or you may be waiting to use them. The gym showers and changing facilities are nice. We used the spa on two occasions for a couple’s massage. Nopi and Dewi did a wonderful job and were both very good at what they do. Hotel security is good and we felt very safe whilst staying here. The restaurant was a bit hit-and-miss. We enjoyed breakfast every morning but did stick to fairly bland choices. There are lots of different food choices from around the world. Fruit juice was from concentrate and wasn’t pure squeezed juice. Serving staff were fantastic every day, particularly the identical twin brothers Depa and Dipa who were so friendly and a real credit to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they always had a big smile on their face (even if we couldn’t always tell them apart!). The a-la-carte menu was generally pretty good and the portion sizes were generous. On the flip side, we attended four of the themed dinners and the Sunday brunch. At all of these, we found them to be overpriced for what we received. Some of the food sat there for quite some time and was dried out by the time we were there. We felt very underwhelmed each and every time, which was a shame. Overall, the hotel is undergoing a lot of improvements and could become a 4-star hotel eventually, but it most definitely is not 5-star. The staff, on the other hand, absolutely made our holiday the best experience that they could.

Luxury Escape Package : Beware !!

TripAdvisor rating 2.0/5

Willie R Couples - TripAdvisor review

Booked a luxury escape package and need to warn you to take nuu in te that if you are a traveling family ( 2 adults + 2 kids ). This package allows kids to stay free when using “ existing bedding “ So your expected for the four of you to sleep in one bed !!!!! If you ask for a bed for the children you will be charged an additional $340 per kid / bed …. so you’ll need to cough up an extra $ 700 approx on arrival !!!!! Very badly worded L.E. the other room is spartan with only a small sofa and TV … you’d think they’d put a Sofa Bed in there to cater for family’s … seems it all about the $$$$$$. Beware !!

Well located, nice facilities and friendly staff.

We spent a week as a family holiday and found the resort very nice. A little pricey for food/drinks compared to local restaurants, but that's often the case with resorts. Staff were always very friendly, and the buffet breakfasts (& the 1 dinner) were quite good too with lots of options. Stairwells were not as presentable as other areas though.

Dear Danielle J., Thank you for your review concerning your stay experience at Pullman Bali Legian Beach. We're thrilled to hear that you had a great family holiday at our resort and enjoyed our nice facilities and friendly staff. We appreciate your feedback regarding the pricing of food and drinks, and we will certainly consider ways to improve in this area. It's wonderful to know that you found our buffet breakfasts and dinner to be quite good with lots of options. In additions, We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the state of the stairwells and will address this promptly. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and your family back for another enjoyable stay in the future. Sincerely, Andinni Guest Experience Pullman Bali Legian Beach

Accommodation is slightly outdated, freshness of towels & attention to detail of the room cleaners is questionable, lots of street noise, however location & rooftop adult only infinity pool are a plus for the price. 24hr room service took half an hour just to get an order through after midnight
