papakyoto Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

Stayed in this hotel twice this month during my transits in BKK. I chose this hotel because I thought it was next to the Airport Rail Link at Makkasan Station, but I was terribly disappointed to find out that it is actually quite a long 15minutes walk to the hotel and there are no pavements - you have to walk on the actual road with vehicles zipping past you. Very difficult if you have luggage. During my 2nd stay, I called the hotel for their Tuk Tuk pick up service from the MRT instead, and the Tuk Tuk took 45minutes to arrive. The hotel can only apologise and blame it on bad traffic, so seriously this location is one of the worst locations for a hotel I would not advise anyone to stay here if you need a fast connection to the airport. It actually slows you down. As a Gold member, during my first stay their system is not updated and so when I redeemed my free drink they said I cannot have a cocktail because my status is silver, and I said I’m Gold and instead of believing me the staff said she has to go to the reception to check. Why would I lie?! The first stay I was on 20/F and the room had no shampoo or soap, everything was empty. Looks like this hotel is really trying to cut costs so it’s not classy at all. 2nd stay I was on 21/F and it was better there was finally body wash, shower and conditioner provided this time. In summary, there are better hotels in Bangkok and this hotel is in a bad location and they treat Accor members cheaply so. I think you are better off in other hotels.

First time I stay in Mercure hotel Makkasan Bangkok, very nice place, everyone staff welcome and humble, espesiialy Boy, his nice guy, he telling me so many exotic place in Bangkok, and Mercure Bangkok Makkasan menu breakfast so delicious....love.... love

A perfect hotel if you need to be in the airport early to catch a flight. There's a great shuttle bus service available. Our shuttle bus driver, Jack, drove us to the train station early in the moring and even carried our bags. Although, I'd say the lounge isn't worth while (food-wise), as there is hardly anything available. The breakfast buffet on the other hand, had a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The rooms were also very clean and the beds were comfortable.

I booked a Superior Room but upon check in was advised that I had been upgraded to a Privilege Room but without the associated benefits of a free breakfast and access to the happy hour in the lounge bar on the 10th floor, which is perfectly understandable. I was able to upgrade to a suite on the top floor for a very reasonable additional charge. This came with a free breakfast and access to the happy hour. The suite was very nice with all the expected facilities.
