I've being staying at softels all around the world for around 15 years and have spent most special occasions there throughout the years like Christmas and birthdays. I had a wonderful stay here for Christmas 2022 but my revisit in 2023 left me feeling so let down I'd decided this sofitel wasn't up to standard and I wouldn't visit again. After discussing the poor service I experienced I was convinced by the CR manager to give them another they and I did this year for my birthday. In summary - Hotel in a nice location - Again staff told me at check-in "they get a lot of platinums so no upgrade" - I mentioned in my booking, in emails and it was written on my passport that it was my 50th birthday. The hotel failed to recognise it was my birthday. I don't recall this ever happening at any hotel before because it's such a simple thing to acknowledge especially when I have told you multiple times. - In room the tv wouldn't turn on and the sound system had flat batteries. I shouldn't waste time getting things fixed that should be checked and working before I arrive. - Went to the roof top bar, that's usually excellent, but waited to get served for so long I got up and left. Only as i was near the elevator leaving did someone say they can take my order if I'd wait a bit longer. Executive lounge was excellent except for the disinterest in status at check-in. - I had an issue where I received a noise complaint. From staying in hotels at least 50 night a year for 15 years but often many more like 150 last year I've never had a complaint before and this resulted from the poorly designed rooms. I had a suite and connected my phone to the rooms sound system. I assumed if the room had a sound system it also had noise treatment but it turns out if you use the room sound system it will disturb nearby rooms. If the room was designed properly I could use the room sound system without disturbing the next room. - The tablet system was very good 10 years ago but I found it very difficult nowdays as things have progressed and to go to the tablet to change lights or tv got annoying. - Why not have automated curtains in the room at that price point with the tablet integration? - When I left the desk staff didn't know how to serve me so I had to ask them to get somebody else. It was a simple request and I'd wanted to use some points to pay so if a staff member is so new they can't do they should be supervised. Their supervisor was able to do it without issue but new staff should be closely monitored if they are learning. As you can probably see many of the issues I note you would not expect from even a 3 star hotel and when this 5 star hotel has consistently made the same mistakes its a hotel you want to avoid. The fact that some of the issue comes from poorly designed rooms and the redesign was just finished last year is a huge worry but even more is that the staffing isn't consistent. Generally my reason for staying at Sofitel is the high level staffing and this hotel staffing is unusually inconsistent so best to avoid.

The hotel is well located in the heart of BKK with BTS station in walking distance. Just a small feedback is that the room i stayed in the toilet flush broke but they were quick to send people to repair it.

Great pool day with a day pass!

We visited the hotel's pool with a pool pass. We were able to use the pool, sunbeds, gym, bathroom and sauna with full f&b credit. The service was extremely friendly. Pool area was clean and calm. The food was excellent and the portions were big. There was happy hour at the pool when the drinks were take 2 pay 1. We were almost in a hurry to use all our credit! The sauna was excellent, we definitely recommend trying it. Instructions can be found on the wall if you are not from Finland like us! We do not have an opinion on the hotel, as we only visited for a day, The hotel was nevertheless clean and the service everywhere was friendly.

Hotel Sofitel Bangkok - Highly Recommended, 5 out of 5 stars for me.

I stayed at the Sofitel Hotel in 2024 while visiting Bangkok for my first time. The location is smack in the middle of several nice restaurants and night clubs. Also, walking distance from the wonderous Terminal 21 shopping mall. I stayed in the Luxury King room with king-sized bed. The room was good sized with a nice view and comfortable bed. Their bathroom was luxurious marble and well appointed. I had a shower and bathtub. Of course, wi-fi and flat screen tv were included. The view was of the street but was quite quiet. I purchased the breakfast with my room and it was so worth it. The breakfast was buffet style and delicious. The rooftop restaurant, the Belga Rooftop Bar and Brasserie, has very delicious bone-in rib-eye steak and a beautiful view. The pastry café, Le Macaron, off the lobby, serves hand-made chocolates, fruit tarts and other French pastries, was run by Nonk who is both charming and fun to talk to. I loved her teams’ home-made blueberry muffins and chocolate torte slices. Astoundingly, their pastries sell at a discount toward closing time. For instance, muffins 2 for 1, making it very convenient for that late sweet tooth dessert bargain. The chief concierge, Trai Jusin ‘Pete’, answered all of my detailed questions and provided great restaurant and sight-seeing suggestions. He also taught me how to use the BTS Skytrain, MRT subway, and pedestrian walkway next to the hotel. There was one hitch when I was napping at 1 pm in my room. I heard hammering next door so I could not sleep. The hotel manager was very sympathetic and she immediately upgraded me to a quiet larger room on a higher floor so I could sleep. This was so kind of her. She did not charge me extra for the larger and more luxurious room for the duration of my stay. I am very happy with the staff and with the Hotel Sofitel. 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend.
