WhereToGoh Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

This was my second stay at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit. My first? A two-year-old disaster so memorable that I gleefully handed them a 1-star review on TripAdvisor. It was that bad – I swore I’d never return. But, as they say, time heals all wounds (or at least renovates all hotels), and I’m happy to report that Sofitel Bangkok has had quite the glow-up. Gone are the questionable design choices and tacky wallpaper that once haunted my dreams. Now, you’re greeted by a sophisticated lobby that whispers, “We’re better now,” and rooms that actually look like they belong in a premium hotel. Originally, I booked a Luxury Room, but thanks to my Accor Platinum status, I was upgraded to a Magnifique Room. The room’s new palette of baby blue and beige oozes serenity, and the bed linen? Pure bliss. It’s the kind of bed that makes you question if you really need to go outside at all. Club Millesime, the executive lounge, is located on level 3. While it won’t win any interior design awards, the service is exceptional. A special shoutout to Khun Khaow, whose boundless cheer during cocktail hours could brighten anyone’s day. If only she could fix Bangkok traffic… Speaking of things that haven’t changed, Viola Restaurant still feels like it’s stuck in a time loop. The breakfast selection is decent, but nothing that’ll have you rushing out of bed. If I had to nitpick – and I do – the bathroom could use a bit more love. The shower cubicle had some moldy vibes going on around the drain, which isn’t exactly the ‘luxury’ vibe I was expecting from a newly renovated room. Ah, Sukhumvit – the rush hour apocalypse remains alive and well. But don’t worry, the BTS is your savior, and if you’re new to Bangkok, the “nighttime entertainment” outside the hotel is sure to be… an eye-opener. Overall, I’m glad to see Sofitel Bangkok has redeemed itself. Let’s hope they keep the facelift fresh and the mold at bay!

This is an exquisite property. The interior is tastefully designed and the style, charming and classic. The service teams were great, from pre-arrival (Gift and Ann) to reception (Gift again, who checked me in seamlessly) to Club Milisime (Sindy, Raymond, Tide, Friend, and Nok) to La Macaron (Tae, May, Pim). The service level was professional and consistent. The Assistant Director for F&B, Angie, was also interactive and walking the ground, ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of guests. The only drawback was the breakfast experience at Voila, which is full of undesirable guests with poor etiquette. It was challenging for staff to manage them, though they did their best; Nui, in particular, who was very guest centric, friendly and approachable. I look forward to the reopening of Club Milisime on the 31st level, where breakfast can be a more premium experience for discerning guests. Nonetheless, this by far, was the best stay at any Accor property across Thailand and it's definitely a tough choice between this and other luxury brands. Good and prompt service albeit the club floor facilities at level 3 could be improved with many guests coming and I have to wait for around 15 mins before I can get a seat just for myself

Great Stay

All finishings are new and well but entry of the room is too narrow.
