Upon arrival all looks lovely but the room is dated and not very clean. Bathroom is dated and not clean at all as there's hair in bath, half rolls of toilet roll so had to go buy our own. The complentary tea and coffee consists of one cup of each which meant we had to go out and buy all that too as we're here for 3 days Christmas eve Christmas day and boxing day were quite disappointed and don't think we will be coming back here again.

Visited the hotel for a last minute meeting and the customer service from the reception desk was beyond expectation. Without prior notice they were really accommodating with my meeting needs and provided a kind festive approach. The lounge area of the hotel has been refurbished since my previous visit and looks much improved

I recently stayed on 19/12/24 - 20/12/24. I never normally complain about hotel stays, however I find our experience here very disappointing. When arriving at the hotel I requested for a quiet room as our dogs don’t like loud noises, to this we were put in room 117 which was fine until the night time. This is where the function room had a party, this was irritating as the music and noise was very loud and this caused us not been able to settle down for the night and also kept our dogs awake and barking. So we contacted the hotel desk and they moved us to another room in the hotel, this was a massive inconvenience as I specifically requested a quiet room twice and then to be moved mid night when we were in our pjs and unpacked all our belongings. We then got moved to room 224 this was on the opposite side of the hotel and this wasn’t much better either. This is because we were downgraded to this room as the bed was small and the head light above the bed caused me to bang my head serval times as this was faulty and placed in an inconvenient spot. (I have photos to prove this). When we went to room 224 I was again disappointed, the room was very outdated and creeky and when we were moving around and not that clean, the room was far too hot and had no fan in like the other room and also I had the window open but this room was right near the main road so again had the noise from the traffics going past on the main road. We really didn’t get a good night sleep at all. We also have x2 small dogs, this is a dog friendly hotel and I feel like our dogs weren’t catered for at all, I have stayed in other hotels cheaper than this and their catering for my dogs have been great. There wasn’t even a dog bowl or water in the room. We were having to drink from the bathroom for water as they were no places to get bottled water from. I paid £110 for this stay and am extremely disappointed considering I’ve stayed in much better hotels at a better price. For the price I paid and we didn’t even get breakfast included is also disappointing. This stay was meant to be for a special occasion and this occasion was ruined by this hotel! When complaining to the staff or felt like they simply did not care. I never give bad reviews only ever been good. I thought for the price this hotel was it would have been satisfying for me and my family, but we were anything but satisfied!

A group of us stayed for one night and we all said we’d come back again in a heartbeat (we were there for leisure, but we also discussed getting a larger group together for a business event). The hotel retains the charm of another era yet everything is in tip top modern condition, thanks to a refurb. The staff are helpful and friendly. Five stars to Deshpal on reception for excellent customer service. Ten minutes and a tenner in an Uber from York, the hotel is ideally placed. Also reasonably priced, with a good breakfast buffet. I’m more than happy to recommend.

Hotel is easy to find from the South without having to go through York centre. Well decorated foyer and friendly staff make guests feel welcome. Room was a good size and breakfast good.
