We have stayed at this Hotel on several occasions because of the location and proximity to York City centre. Some rooms and areas need updating and TLC. We have always been happy with our stays in the past and this was no exception apart from booking a twin room and being allocated a double. We had booked two rooms, a twin and double on the hotel Web site only to be told an our arrival that a third room had been booked using my details via Expedia, as I have never used this site we were a bit concerned. The receptionist told us that they could not cancel the booking as it had been made via a separate agent and if we failed to cancel it via Expedia we would be charged a no show rate. The receptionist was less than helpful. The following morning after contacting Expedia and being informed they had no record of the booking I spoke to the manager who said that he would investigate. We vacated our room after three nights and have not yet had any explanation as to what happened, very poor.

The hotel was ideally placed, very quiet and comfortable. They served an excellent 3 course dinner for £26 pp, the buffet breakfast was superb but above all the staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and accommodating
