A beautiful building, well the old part, but desperately in need of investment and attention. I have never seen such dirty window frames, and windows along corridors and in the dining room were filthy. The windows and frame in our room were pretty disgusting, and we struggled to actually open the window. Water stains in the bath from long term neglect. The staff were lovely when you could find them, dinner was quirky as no visible staff in the dining room. Breakfast was luke warm, no gluten free cereals visible on day 2, and also had to ask for tomato juice which had become invisible it was still in the fridge! This could be an awesome place to stay but in need of a good clean and update.

Cannot say enough positive things about the staff. Every interaction was professional and courteous. Kitchen staff deserves special recognition as they served good food even with large tour groups present. Now of note... There was very visible black mold in the window area of our room. This has been called out on several previous hotel online reviews. Please attend to this with a simple application of bleach

Excellent as always bar a black man on reception with dreadlocks who misgendered my twice with incorrect pronouns as a non binary intersex woman . Coach party in attendance on the second night which was not too good as coach parties are usually ignorant scum. Room was lovely as always and made pleasant with an electric fan

The room itself was lovely and clean but the communal areas were very tired and tatty. The carpets were worn and looked dirty.

All the staff I met were polite and helpful, Lorna in the dining room especially. I stayed in Room 156 which was a good size room and on the surface looked clean and tidy, but on closer inspection a lot of the surfaces needed dusting and there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in both the bedroom and bathroom. The room, although a little dated, was a good size, was quiet and a fan was provided to keep it cool; really useful in hot weather.
