simple overnight bed, no food. My wife and I have made similar visit before. We like atmosphere of the place. Only query is that the counter at check in is in appalling, badly worn state. First impressions, etc etc. Cost of refurbishing the counter to make it appealing to first time visitors would be minimum. Could be done with minor disruption to service but make travellers think the place is in good shape.

The hotel is adequate (nothing more nothing less) and fine for accommodation when i'm working. Rooms are clean, plenty of parking. The accommodation is in need of some TLC and updating / refurbishment. You can tell years ago the hotel would have been 'the place to go' and the original building is beautiful. However, the more modern accommodation is far from amazing, plush or luxurious - although, this does reflect in the price.

The Hotel is in desperate need of updating. We booked 3 double rooms to enable us to attend a family event. The staff throughout the hotel were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was good quality and plentiful. Strangely they only supplied 1 towel per double room! Although this was soon rectified when we requested a towel each. Although desperately in need of an update it is good value for the price.

Worst room we have stayed in

No bulbs in the bedside lights, reported to reception who said they would send someone who eventually arrived an hour later after two more phone calls. One bulb worked but not the other and he returned with another bulb but this did not fit. Returned a third time with two further bulbs one of which fit but no light due to faulty electrics. Offered to change room but by this time we were almost ready to go out and as we were leaving immediately in the morning as we had not booked breakfast. Shower curtain smelled and needs to be changed, unable to increase volume on tv and being hard of hearing was a waste of time putting it on. Finally the window looked like it had not be cleaned for some considerable time. Will not be returning. Not sure how to add photo as took it on my mobile and doing this review on my iPad. But contacting Mercury on my mobile so should be able to send them the photo. James & Linda

This was our second time at Mercure Bradford. The hotel is well appointed and in a convenient location. The Reception staff were welcoming and helpful as were the staff in the dining room. The bedroom was clean and comfortable but some furnishings ( shelves, dressing table ) look a little tired and could do with an upgrade. We chose the 'green option' to keep our own room clean and this worked well. The breakfast buffet is very good with plenty of choices. We would return to the Mercure Bradford again.
