Stressful prior to checking in and during check in as hotel didn’t advise would be charging bank card day before check in (even though booked a room with pay at hotel option) so room ended up being cancelled by hotel causing a lot of stress, hotel then tried to charge me a higher amount on check in.

Hello from Cologne, Thank you for your message. We regret to hear that you experienced inconvenience in connection with your booking and check-in. We would like to clarify the situation from our perspective. Prior to your arrival, several reservations were made, including both non-refundable “No Flex” bookings and flexible bookings. In addition, some of the flexible reservations were cancelled by you and later rebooked. Due to the number of changes and new reservations, the booking situation became understandably complex. As is standard practice in the hotel industry, for flexible bookings a pre-authorisation or verification of the credit card is carried out approximately two days prior to arrival in order to confirm that the payment details provided are valid. During this process, it was found that the credit card registered for the flexible bookings was not valid. It was not possible to charge the amount for the first nights. And this is the reason, why all the flexible bookings were cancelled normally without any further information to the client. But because of the number of flexible reservations, we thought, it would be fine, to get in contact with you via e-mail. Following this, we were in regular email and telephone contact with you in an effort to clarify the reservations and find a suitable solution. During this correspondence, you informed us that instead of the six apartments originally booked under separate reservations, you would only require two apartments. As a result, the existing “No Flex” booking was kept unchanged, and the most recently cancelled flexible reservation was reactivated. During one telephone conversation, the currency was a misunderstanding. In Cologne we spoke in Euro's and you spoke in British pounds, why the amounts for the stay were differently mentioned. Once again, we sincerely regret that the situation before and during check-in was stressful for you. Our aim is always to provide a smooth and pleasant experience for our guests. We take your feedback to see, what preparations we can do, to improve our services before clients check in. Regarding the different situations inside your apartment. We tested them all (TV and Nespressomachine) all was working. Chromecast via Mobilphone worked well. Would love to give 10 stars as staff were super helpful and friendly , but one clear problem I have with my stay was the Air-conditioning system did not work . . This was raised with different members of staff on three occasions , nothing was done to resolve this and neither was there any communication from the desk to suggest a fix was in place . It was warm during my stay I was was counting on the climate system to work . Thank you

Although the hotel rooms could do with a refresh, they were tidy and staff were friendly and approachable. I was warned of potential 500 euro charge if smoke alarms activated. Great location for theme parks and bundesliga games

The hotel is well located with a short walk to the city centre or the river front. The staff were extremely friendly and the room was clean and well laid out. The breakfast was excellent and having coffee available throughout the day is a great idea.
