Did not like the night shift of the reception. For checkout reception was helpful. Some staff were not nice! and did not like it when I reminded them for a request which was not fully fulfilled. They said : "Schon wieder!"

Friendly staff, very good service, rooms could be hoovered daily and windows could be cleaner. Some adjustments in the bathroom like bin not functioning easily, some rust in bathroom chrome features. Bath tub too high, would have preferred walk-in shower, next time!

We thought the hotel was in a very good location. This time we flew into Cologne Bonn Airport, and it was really convenient to get to the hotel by public transport. There were also plenty of restaurants and nightlife within easy walking distance. Although I’ve been to Cologne several times before, the Vringsveedel area was completely new to me, and I really enjoyed it. Check-in went smoothly enough, although there was a small issue with my booking. I had booked two rooms, and it looked like one of them might not be credited to my loyalty account. I mentioned it straight away, and the receptionist’s supervisor promised to get it sorted. The receptionist was very friendly, although perhaps a little unsure of herself. The rooms were quite basic, so don’t expect any luxury. The bed was, however, very comfortable, and the room was impressively quiet, which deserves a mention. One thing that really surprised me was the height of the shower tray in room 156. It was unusually high, and I can imagine it being quite difficult for an older person or someone with mobility issues to step out of the shower safely. There is a genuine risk of slipping. I even found it a little awkward myself, and I’m a fit 45-year-old man who exercises regularly. The breakfast was really excellent.

Dear Mr. Flasche, Thank you for inviting feedback following my recent one-week stay at Mercure Hotel Severinshof Köln City. There were some positives: I enjoyed the breakfast, and the bed was comfortable, which made sleeping well easy during the stay. However, a number of issues affected the overall experience and fell below what I would expect from a hotel of this category: The toilets did not have soft-close seats. This is now a very common, basic feature, so it was surprising not to find it in a hotel of Mercure’s standard. There is effectively no comfortable lounge or communal area where colleagues can sit together and socialize. Our group occupied a significant part of the hotel during the week, but there was very little suitable space for informal conversation outside the rooms. The bar experience was particularly disappointing. On one occasion, colleagues who were talking together and had brought small amounts of food or drinks from outside were criticized loudly and rather rudely. This was especially disappointing considering that our team also spent many evenings at the bar and regularly purchased food and drinks there. The behaviour of the bearded bartender on Friday night was, in my view, inappropriate and unprofessional. The elevator was out of service for two days, which was a significant inconvenience during a week-long stay. The bathroom light switch was placed in a very unusual location beside the entrance door. It was not intuitive at all and took some time to find. The parking-payment machine was also not working, adding another avoidable inconvenience. I hope this feedback is useful. The hotel has some good points, particularly the breakfast and the comfortable beds, but improvements in maintenance, guest facilities, and—most importantly—service attitude at the bar would make a meaningful difference to the guest experience.

Unfortunately, our stay did not meet our expectations. The heating in the room was not working, which made the room uncomfortable. The bathroom condition also left a lot to be desired – for example, there was visible rust and limescale on the shower head. It was also quite difficult to regulate the water temperature properly, as it kept changing and was hard to set at a comfortable level. On top of that, the elevators were not working during our stay, which caused additional inconvenience. Overall, the hotel would benefit from better maintenance and attention to the condition of the rooms and facilities. Its not All Accor standard.

No proper room cleaning, no hot water, no proper ironing equipment, even ground floor coffee machine down min twice in 4 days.

Everything was very good at the hotel including attentiveness personnel, my room upgrade to a more spacious room, good quality food, nice common areas. On the downsize, they did not have basic quality-of-life small services like a microwave where to warm food, or being able to receive orders. Breakfast is nice, but variety is underwhelming. Also, I saw an elderly customer being refused breakfast by arriving 5 minutes after the end - I think the staff should have been more empathetic (especially knowing that the bar at night closes earlier if there are no customers, so schedule is not that rigid).

I recently stayed at the hotel while attending an intensive conference in Cologne. On a positive note, the front desk team was polite, professional, and welcoming throughout our visit. The room itself was well laid out, quiet, and featured a comfortable bed and effective climate control, which provided good rest after long days. However, two significant issues heavily impacted our experience: Persistent odour in the room: Upon arrival, there was an unpleasant drain odour in the bathroom. The issue was reported, but rather than resolving the source, housekeeping attempted to mask it with strong fragranced products. While the reception kindly offered a room change after a few days, our conference schedule (early mornings to late evenings) made repacking and relocating completely impractical during the stay. Unprofessional restaurant staff conduct: During our first evening, while having drinks and food in the designated outdoor courtyard smoking area, a male member of the restaurant staff approached us aggressively. Without any greeting, polite notice, or explanation of policy, he began shouting loudly at us, demanding that we could not consume our items there. The confrontational tone was entirely unwarranted and unprofessional for hospitality staff. Due to how hostile this interaction was, we felt uncomfortable using the hotel facilities and opted to avoid the restaurant and bar entirely, choosing to take all our subsequent breakfasts, dinners, and drinks elsewhere in the city. While the front desk and room setup meet good standards, the handling of maintenance and particularly the demeanor of the food and beverage team need serious attention.
