The 25hours Hotel The Circle is situated just a few minutes walk from the city in a spectacular rotunda. In collaboration with 25hours, the Berlin creative team from Studio Aisslinger developed a design concept on the subject of retro futurism. The 207 rooms are urban retreats with contrasting themes playful retro style meets imaginative future utopias. At the heart of the 25hours Hotel The Circle are the restaurant NENI and the Monkey Bar on the 8th floor with a unique view of Cologne Cathedral.

Decor is plain weird!

The hotel concept is just plain weird! It is kind of a scene from a low budget scifi film. All black walls, silver and red seating and a peculiar astronaut perched near the lift! That said the rooms are incredibly spacious but the ensuite formed part of the main bedroom with just a venetian divider between bed and the bathing facilities. Fortunately the toilet did have a door. There was a large free standing bath and good sized shower with lovely toiletries provided. The seating area had a table, small sofa and armchairs in silver pvc, again odd but in keeping with everything else. On the downside the bed was rock hard and there was no wardrobe, just a piece of pipe attached to the wall with a few coat hangers. Breakfast was served on the 8th floor with fantastic views of the city. The range and quality of the food was outstanding from the diy juicer and waffle makers to the freshly prepared egg dishes, fab breads and great coffee, the list could just go on..... It was apparent at breakfast that this hotel is used by a large proportion of business guests, not that this is an issue, more an observation. We received good service from the reception staff and breakfast servers. However when we booked the hotel we prepaid the full amount. Unfortunately upon arrival the reception put a £500 hold on my credit card by mistake and were unable to release this prior to our checking out. Whilst it didn't cause me any issues it maybe would have for some so just watch for this.
