Gelim Couples - TripAdvisor review

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in mid-October only because we could not find an alternative. It is situated in a less salubrious part of Frankfurt; the neighbourhood heavily littered, populated with sex-shops and massage parlours, and, sadly, home to a number of street people and sex workers. The hotel pays no heed to this leaving its doors open with no security during the day, whilst access to the lifts is controlled, access via the stairs is free to all. Reception, which is across from the front door, is often not staffed – it is only when multiple guests are checking in or checking out that there is any continuous presence. There are meeting rooms on the second floor with ready access to bedrooms (ours being one of them). This is not a hotel that recommends itself to families with children. Our experience of checking in was to be met with statements somewhat distant from the truth and despite holding a platinum loyalty card (which affords early check-in) we were be delayed for nearly an hour until 15:00 hrs. The room was not the upgrade promised. Nor – despite the appellation – had it received the enhanced hygiene clean touted by Accor. Wardrobes were dirty, with a previous guests’ debris left in them, the carpet had not been vacuumed. The bathroom screens defied cleaning and the evidence was apparent. The bedlinen was too short for the bed which meant that we lay on the mattress protector with our feet beyond the end of the duvet. A clock had a flat battery and apparently the Nespresso machine had been stolen (we noticed that, not the staff or the purported supervisors). We had no bathrobes or slippers. The room was adjacent to a timber ramp in the corridor – perhaps for disabled access – which reverberated with every foot fall. The windows opened onto a commercial passageway beside the hotel. That passageway was brightly lit until midnight. It was noisy. Housekeeping was erratic – although the lady who initially helped us at 15:00hrs when everyone else had gone home was the epitome of professionalism. Sadly she was one of the few professionals there. Our room was only comprehensively serviced once and then after our return at 13.30 hours. But we had to ask. There was no restaurant, breakfast was in a dedicated room and was OK. But this hotel is not cheap and it cannot be said to represent value for money – even in Frankfurt. Don’t bother complaining to the manager (if you can establish who it is at any one time) - he’s not interested. Complaining to Accor does, ultimately, generate a response and we were offered a small amount of compensation but, there should have been no need (and we hadn’t asked for it). The problems with this hotel are deep rooted and suggestions that change will happen does not address the risks already incurred by guests, nor does an occasional dink at the bar solve any problem. The best course of action is to avoid this hotel or be prepared for a disappointment.

I booked privilege suite room for 3 nights but the room I got totally different from the picture in website. On the first night we ask for more 1 single room so they provided us but on the 2,3 night they compensate nothing. I chose this hotel because of the room suitable with our group(2male, 1 female) but they make us in the trouble. Staff just said the room was sold out so they help nothing.
