We arrived for our stay after a night flight, around 2am, we had booked 2 rooms - a family and king, we went to check in and the man behind the desk did not really talk to us and he walked out and returned with a manager. She informed us that our room wasnt available (family room) and that we could have 2 queen rooms instead, so we had 1 adult and 1 child per room. My parents room was located on a separate floor. We got to the rooms which were down the hallway from each other and I opened the room and gave a sleeping man a heck of a fright because the room was already occupied!! I had to send my husband down to get another room as my kids were getting really upset at this point. I really hope that the hotel has apologised to that man as it would have been a horrible experience for him as well.
