A Little Disappointed

This visit was a game of two halves for me. Let me explain. While having a few drinks with friends I was inadvertantly overcharged at the bar. The recovery was fast and efficient and I need to recognise both the bar assistance and duty manager for this. Thank you. I think you operate a very good front of house operation with great people. However I was disappointed with the backroom presentation. I acknowledge I stayed in the Ibis rather than the Novotel. Mind you it shouldn't make a difference. The first thing that struck me was the baggage and linen carts stored in the hallway to my room. I can only guess they were stored there because they were empty and remained there throughout my stay. I smiled when others made a similar comment as I navigated the maze. Then in my room the television didn't work. Yes I could have called up and got it repaired but just thought, "it's too hard". I suppose you get what you pay for, but shabby when there should be some quality controls in place.

We arrived at 8pm to find our rooms had not yet been allocated - it was "currently in progress" - rather disappointing as we had booked at least 4 weeks prior to our arrival date. In the end we found that we couldn't have a co-joining room, or 2 rooms side by side - as has been requested on our booking 4 weeks prior. There had been no phone consultation prior to inform of this and therefore we were less than satisfied with the allocation/service, especially since we had an older person with us that had specific needs. During the stay I was locked out of my room, due to the battery going flat in the electronic locking card system - therefore had to wait for the workman to arrive and sort it out. As an attempt to provide us with some compensation for the less than satisfactory experience, we were given free parking at the hotel (saving $20.00 approx), but then partway through the stay we struggled to get a park in the car park as restaurant visitors had taken up the parks - glad we didn't pay for this!

Bar area was good, room was clean and tidy. Was a lot of noise in the hallway during the night, not sure if this was staff or guests. Had a lot of trouble connecting to the Wifi, gave up in the end.
