Our 14.30hrs flight was cancelled at 15.30hrs and we arrived at the hotel at 21.30hrs. We were aware at this time our rescheduled flight wouldn’t be for 2 days. The check in was ok. We attempted to order room service but as no one answered the phone call my partner had to go down and speak with the restaurant staff. The food which arrived very quickly was quite palatable- bearing in mind our last food item was a biscuit on the previous flight at 19.30hrs. We put out a card for breakfast it wasn’t collected. At 10 when we realised it wasn’t collected I contacted the front desk and was put through to the restaurant. Upon which I was told we weren’t ‘entitled’ to room service and had to come to the restaurant for breakfast. So we started to get ourselves sorted for breakfast. Then a knock at the door - suddenly we were ‘entitled’ to room service breakfast. He was told to leave and we would come to the restaurant. We arrived at the restaurant for the buffet breakfast at 10.15hrs. Absolute slim pickings available of questionable time of making and temperature. I asked the food attendant where to make a cup of tea - he gestured to a machine. Which when I looked was for coffee only. I then asked again and he said he would get the tea. I asked for one earl grey and one English breakfast. Whilst I was toasting some bread he brought a pot of English breakfast to my partner. And then went about his day. I returned to the table and saw one pot of tea. I then asked him what I had asked for he said earl grey and English breakfast. I then gestured at the table and asked where might the earl grey be. He kind of grimaced and said nothing. I sat down and he brought over the earl grey. I realise I was not where I wanted to be at that time and little things become big things due to stress and tiredness. But I just couldn’t understand what was going on. We then spent the day in our room with little of nothing to do. Auckland being either over an hour away by bus or a $100 taxi ride. Then around 18.00hrs we ordered some dinner and it arrived cold and soggy at nearly 19.00hrs. We were needing to be checking at for our first rescheduled flight at 5.30 so it wasn’t worth asking for it to be remade. There is one shining light - on the front desk a lady by the name of Miranda.
