Smoltman TripAdvisor review

The Novotel is just 100 metres to the check-in counters of the airport. The staff were courteous, friendly and very helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed. The in-house restaurant was great for dinner and the buffet breakfast was like all other hotels, lukewarm food but okay. Overall a good stay.

Fast check-in and great help as my partner injured himself on an airline trolley. The front of house on duty went to their first aid kit and helped to stop bleeding with the necessary bandages. Our experience the whole stay was exceptional service.

The hotel’s location is excellent, just within walking distance of the International Airport, which was very convenient. However, the welcome experience could be more polished, and the lack of assistance with luggage to the room was a detractor. I ordered from room service, and while the delivery staff was pleasant, the pricing felt high for what was received. Another concern was not being able to earn loyalty points due to booking through the Air New Zealand website. While I understand third-party booking policies, when paying $500 per night, it would be a nice gesture to offer some form of recognition or incentive to encourage return visits. Given these factors, I may consider staying at the Pullman Hotel next door for future visits.
