I was forced to upgrade to a suite to accommodate my young daughter at check in. I realize now that this has to do with Spanish regulations, but I feel like more accommodations could have been made. Additionally, this did not live up to the American Express Hotel collection benefits, which provide a room upgrade if available. The room was clearly available, so should have been provided at no additional charge. I have never had this experience at other Hotel Collection hotels and it makes me unlikely to stay at a Sofitel in the future.

At the time of booking, we did not have information indicating that the room would be occupied by three guests, including a child. As our hotel has very limited room categories that can accommodate three people in line with local regulations, our Front Desk team offered a suitable room category to ensure compliance and comfort. Regarding the American Express Hotel Collection benefits, upgrades are subject to availability and room suitability. In this case, the available upgraded room was not configured to accommodate three guests. We regret any disappointment this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.
