A night in Barcelona

Stayed here for a night in June 2024 ahead of a seven-day cruise from Barcelona. We got the Aerobus from the airport to Placa Espana and then transferred on to the Metro, getting off at Glories station. It was a ten-minute walk to the hotel, through an area that is mainly residential despite it being in the centre of the city. We were checked in very quickly and went up to our room. It was a good size, which was important to us given the luggage we were taking on the cruise. As it is a budget hotel the design of the room was more functional than cutting edge, but it was clean with a comfortable bed. There was also a good quality bathroom, sufficient clothes storage for a short stay and a safe provided, though as is common in Spain no tea and coffee-making facilities. Ahead of our cruise we wanted to do some shopping for drinks and snacks for our trip, and we found a Mercadona supermarket about 10 minutes away. There are also a number of cafes, bars and restaurants close by, and whilst we didn’t use them there seemed to be a good choice and looked like they were mainly aimed at locals rather than tourists. We met friends for dinner the night of our stay so did not use the hotel restaurant, but had breakfast there next day and were impressed with the choice and quality on offer. After checking-out we had time to spare before heading to the port, so walked to the beach at Barceloneta which is about 30 minutes away. The hotel staff were happy to look after our luggage until we came back to arrange a taxi. This was a good place to stay ahead of our cruise, and would recommend for a short visit to Barcelona if you are looking for a quiet area away from the busier tourist areas of the city.

Hard mattresses, weak shower, no tea & coffee making in the room, erratic breakfast service. Both my door lock and key card were visibly damaged and didn't always work properly but the staff just said to wriggle it a bit and try it multpile times. Some mornings breakfast was very limited, no hot items, nothing being restocked, other times it was better, but would recommend finding a cafe for a 5 euro coffee and pastry instead of paying for it at the hotel. Poor sound insulation - my bed shook every time a neighbour shut their door & I could hear them coughing! Good things: staff friendly, general location pretty quiet in terms of street traffic, A/C was effective.

The Hotel provides a good service, all staff is very friendly. Rooms are a bit small and location not so convenient. Need to walk about 10 min to reach area with restaurants or public transportation.
