This is about the only full service hotel in the immediate region. We were not on a golfing holiday so we were looking at the non-golfing facilities. These were good but the restaurant service was not quite up to four star standard.

Friendly and courteous staff in reception, restaurants, golf shop and the room. Leaning staff. Hotel breakfast was very good standard and extensive. The dinner menu was limited and didn't change over the week we stayed except for the dish of the day. However it was well presented and tasty The golf courses are both testing and well maintained.

A secret hotel

Our visit had a bad start. The gateway to the hotel had no signage whatsoever, just a closed gate. I drove past, looking for an entrance. I phoned the hotel and whoever answered was most unhelpful, telling me to use my GPS and there was no gate. I eventually found the entrance, but how are new guests supposed to know? And there are no indications to tell you that you must drive up to the gate and it will slowly open. It is as if they don't want visitors! So we arrived at reception and received a lecture about staying with dogs. I know there is a charge, but at this hotel it is excessive, probably priced to deter them. Thankfully, things got better. The rooms were very nice and the access to the outside seating area was welcome. The dining area is pleasant and the breakfast was good. The dinner menu is very limited. We stayed two night, but if it had been longer we would have struggled to find something. I recognise that the main clientelle are conferences and events, but this can make others feel at little unwanted. The dining room staff were very pleasant.
