The hotel is beautiful, especially the spa. However, when we were there only one restaurant was open, the piano bar was also closed and even when wanting to go outside to sit by the pool at night all the lights were off. Granted the hotel was almost empty but still. While the spa is amazing given the hotel price/category paying 110 euros for an hour just to use the facilities (without massages or anything) seemed really excessive to me and gave me a bit of an ick:

It was not made clear to us that we needed to bring all of our documentation and upon check-in and we did not have photo ID of our children. Then their credit card readers kept declining our cards- our banking apps indicated that there were no fraud alerts, but the staff seemed to imply we were using bad or stolen cards. After using 4 or 5 card readers they were finally able to charge the card. In general, after having lived in Argentina for 3 years we have notices that Argentine costumer service is lacking. They are very strict about rules and prioritize telling the customer that they are unable to be flexible, accommodating or apologizing for the many inconveniences that occur. When booking a staycation at the Sofitel we assumed we would get high-quality service. Instead, we felt stressed and judged with suspicion. They even had to check our kids in the car as we drove out of the grounds of the hotel.

At the same time, we would like to clarify that in Argentina there are both national and international regulations that apply equally to all individuals entering and staying within the country, regardless of nationality. These regulations, which are implemented worldwide throughout the hospitality and tourism industry, are particularly strict regarding identity verification, child protection, and human trafficking prevention laws. For this reason, all guests — including children and babies — must present valid identification, and adults must also provide proof of the legal relationship or authorization connecting them to the minors traveling with them. These are mandatory legal and police registration requirements that hotels are obligated to comply with and are not discretionary procedures open to interpretation. Likewise, payment validations and credit card verification procedures are established and accepted during the reservation confirmation process. In certain situations, banking systems or payment terminals may require additional validations, and we fully understand how frustrating this may feel during arrival. Regarding the controls at the entrance and exit of the property, these are long-established security procedures that have been consistently implemented throughout the hotel’s years of operation, with the sole purpose of protecting the safety and security of guests, visitors, and staff within the property. That said, we fully understand your perception regarding the way these procedures may have been communicated or experienced. Hospitality should always be accompanied by empathy, warmth, and clarity, especially when families and children are involved. Your comments represent an important opportunity for us to continue working with our teams on how operational and legal procedures are communicated while always maintaining the level of care and service expected from a Sofitel experience. We also appreciate your suggestions regarding breakfast options, as well as your recognition of our sustainability efforts and the cleanliness of the property. The air conditioner from room 324 has noisy output.
