I've stayed at the Ibis Banrangaroo many times, and as a quick business hotel for overnighting, it's a good option. That said, two things put me off recently: the outrageously high tariffs across Accor properties, including this one. The total bill was AUD 340 for one night, which I managed to get down to 200 with points. This is a bad usage of my points to blunt the usurious nightly charges across Accor's Sydney portfolio. It's getting to the point where I'm actively planning NOT to overnight unless I absolutely have no alternative. This strikes me as a false economy for hotels across Sydney, as it means fewer frequent stays. The second issue, and again this is happening across the board at Accor Hotels, is the harassing phone calls to check out, when, as a top-tier member, you are guaranteed late check-out. I am absolutely fed up with having to get room cards extended and the rude phone calls from front desk staff. You know the status at check-in - if you want to know the check-out time, THEN ASK AT CHECK IN!!!! Seriously, it's not that hard to sort this out.

The Ibis at Barangaroo is a small, quirky hotel, ideally situated within minutes of many restaurants and the ferry terminal, with its fast access to Circular Quay. Because of it's individualism, could this be called a Boutique Hotel? Our room was pleasant enough but small. The roar of traffic from the expressway beneath us was sufficiently dulled by the glazing and blinds to give us a very satisfactory night's sleep. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant (or a pool), the breakfast of quick snacks in their "bento boxes" were excellent, as was the coffee. We were very satisfied with our stay.

Woken up due building works, very loud.
