We really enjoyed our room and found the little birthday treats left in our room. However, on the first night we realised the shower was not really functioning. When we turned on the hot water, it dribbled out. We let the staff know the next morning and they said that they would contact maintenance which would arrive the following morning (our checkout day). We would have liked some alternative solution offered, a room change or a discount so we were both a little disappointed in a lovely room without a proper functioning shower. This was my 30th birthday also so a little extra disappointing that no real solution was offered.

I am an Accor Platinum member and I checked in the hotel around 9:40 pm. I was given room 2 which is right next to the ground floor entrance lift lobby. I didn’t understand why there would be a room next to the lift lobby because it is very noisy and we could hear people come into the lobby and talk at night. We did not sleep well at all. I never got a room with such a bad location in an Accor hotel.

Although the room was quite small it was well designed and comfortable for a short stay. Location of the hotel was very convenient for railway station and York centre with a superb Italian restaurant just opposite. Breakfasts were excellent, well laid out and multiple choice.

The room facilities were excellent—the bed was very comfortable and the heating/air conditioning worked great. However, the main drawback was the shower: the water pressure was extremely weak and barely warm. Strangely, the sink tap had really strong pressure.

Convenient location close to Holborn tube and many busy routes. Short walk to West End Theaters. Upgraded Premier room was comfortable with useful ameneties. Appreciated the option for a contiental breakfast not having to pay for meat that we don't eat.
