Another overnight stay at Sofitel LHR.. this time checked in by the lovely Aartee who went above and beyond to help us on our earlier than expected arrival. It’s always a pleasure to stay here and the beds and pillows are the comfiest of anywhere we have stayed. The rooms are good although a second comfortable chair would be an a great asset. It’s a great start to any trip and takes away the stress before departure.

There is only one Hotel that you can walk to from Terminal 5 so there wasn’t much choice. We booked about a month before with the option to cancel at £217. The reception process was simple and the room 2223 was great, beds were very comfortable. The bathroom included a bath and a walk in shower which nice. Water was hot. Coffee making facilities very good with several packets of. Biscuits.

Have regularly stayed here before T5 flights however on this occasion not so good. The checkin desk for Accor Limitless members (I am gold) could not find my reservation - why put a trainee on there? So I was sent to queue up at main reception. Fortunately the other receptionist handled my check in properly and I received upgraded room. The rooms do need modernising and there is no usb plugs for iPhones etc I mean this is 2024 after all. The air conditioner was very noisy and we had to call maintenance. Maybe time to look at alternative hotel in future.

Got to the hotel late evening ready for a good sleep before a 7:00 flight from T5. Unfortunately, in spite of the original request 7 months earlier which was followed up 3 days before arrival, instead of an extra bed there was an extra cot. It took an hour and three visits to reception to sort! I hate being fobbed off with ‘another 10 minutes’ when really what they needed to admit is that they had no idea when the extra bed would be delivered. Interestingly. the reception area seemed to be busy with people with a similar problem. Supposed Tod be a good quality hotel with a great service. It is most certainly not what I experienced. Good location, poor client experience.

Been going here for around 10 years not long after they opened. Great location, good rooms, great beds and nights sleep. It can get a bit chaotic at check in and out but we didn't experience that this time. Sadly it's lost it's way in regards to other areas. For example: No electric vehicle charging which is insane in today's world. By the time we arrived our plug in hybrid was out of juice and there are no ev chargers. We went to eat in the standard restaurant and were told we would have to wait 30mins. Not good enough in a hotel of this calibre. We went to the bar and ordered without issue albeit a far smaller menu than in the main restaurant. Not enough staff in the bar as we were surrounded by half a dozen uncleared tables at one point, and for some time. Gin menu extensive (around maybe a dozen) but only three available. No beers on draught they'd run out (also) so had to make do with a bottle. Overheard barman commenting to a customer they only had two bottles of something left. At checkout met by a scruffy looking member of staff with untied tie around his neck. No help with bags in reception or loading back in to the car we were left to our own devices. This in my opinion is no longer a five star hotel. Fix the basics please.
