So dated and drab for GBP 450 a night, you really can't call yourself a 5 star luxury hotel. Reception took forever to check us in even though I checked in online 24 hours before - no explanation as to all the back and forth to back desk - even as the guy could see I was struggling with 3 tired kids. Room was so old and tired, barely any water, 2 Nespresso capsules, most TV channels didnt work. Bathroom grubby with scum around sink. Also requested a baby cot via email 2 days before, was assured it would be in the room when we arrived, we arrived to check in at 8pm (5 hours after check in time) and no cot.

Signage poor; lift doors did not open at our floor. Some time later we spotted another guest having the same problem - although we had already reported the problem, no one could be bothered to put a warning note in the affected lift -handwritten would have done. No clear info about the amenities available. The score for the overall experience was improved by our experience in the cafe/bar which was excellent.

Return trip having stayed 7 weeks prior at the end of May was truly horrific. Waited 10 mins in queue to get to check in and then a further 25 mins at the desk because “the room had not been signed off as complete”. Complete lack of communication and empathy from the check in or apology. During this time a lady who had checked in before us came back as her room had not been cleaned and was told she needed to rejoin the queue!! Location convenience drives our choice of the hotel but now reconsidering this after this experience. Some redemption with a nice diner at Belle Epoque but very dissatisfied overall.
