We spent a Saturday night here after a cruise from Southampton so we could catch a non stop flight home to the U.S. on Sunday. The cruise ship bus dropped us off at Terminal 5 departures in the morning and we took the lift down to the hotel. The lobby was beautiful, the room was immaculate and comfortable, and the service was exceptional. We made use of the two restaurants on site at the hotel and they were both very nice. The close location, with a walkway connecting the hotel to Heathrow terminal 5 made it handy in the afternoon to wander around the terminal to get comfortable with the areas we would need to access the next day. I was able to spend a little time at the pub in Terminal 5 and cash in some British pounds at the money exchange before heading back down to our comfortable room. All in all it was a great experience before our long flight home.

Having never stayed here previously, my expectations were not that high given experience at other airport hotels. I must admit to being pleasantly surprised by both the hotel, but most importantly, the restaurant experience. We were initially seated by the front of house, but then served by Reina who is a delight. Big smile, with attentive service and willing to converse to make the overall feeling to be personal. A credit to herself and the hotel. It makes me want to stay and fly from T5 again.

Returning customers - stayed a few times previously. Chose to return yet again due to convenient Terminal 5 location and Car Parking Package. Checking/ out was excellent. Had a meal and a drink in the bar - it was quite dark for eating, but the food and drink were of good standard, but a little expensive after the Service Charge was included. Service was friendly, attentive and excellent. The hotel is still very nice, but no longer feels quite 5* - some refurbishment needed in certain areas. Some lifts were scruffy, as was the well-worn carpeted corridor between the hotel and the terminal. Biggest issue and disappointment was the car park. It was quite full and we parked in a marked space on Level -1 (last space alongside the wall before going down the ramp to the lower level!) On our return from holiday, we were horrified to see our new car with a long watermark and stain down the back passenger side door. On looking up, we could see the large pipework in the ceiling was in a terrible state - the corrosion was severe and had been there for a long long time. This needs to sorted urgently and the spaces cordoned off until the issue is sorted!

1. The corridor lights to Room 4404 did not come on utility I had almost reached the room. 2. It was impossible to locate the slot to insert the key-card to turn the room lights on. I had to find the tine slit using my iPhone torchlight. 3. I may be wrong here but I do not think my room price included 10% discount for being an All Accor member of long standing ( Gold in the past, currently Silver ) and a Voyageur member. 4. When I inquired about this, the lady at check out said it may be because the hotel was full - it was not. Irrespective of the above, I will continue to stay at the Sofitel. Regards.

As ever, Sofitel T5 was a sea of tranquility. A calm, sophisticated start to any trip. The Caesar salad is still the emperor of salads - a shame access to the spa is not included for residents/ALL members.
