Basic hotel. Breakfast was good. Nice pool. Good location. Odd bed policy for kids. Beware if you have kid under 12, as they expect them to sleep in a bed with their parents even though you have booked a family room and advised ages of children at time of b.. This odd rule applies no matter the number of children. Imagine 2 adults AND 2 children over the age of 10 all in the same bed, unless you pay extra for the 'privilege' of extra beds for your children

I stayed at Grand Mercure Asoke Residence Bangkok for 2 days during my visit there in Aug,24. The hotel is located behind Terminal 21 shopping centre in Sukhumvit, about 8mins walk. The hotel is an apartment building and lacks the amenities of the Grand Mercure brand. Although the room is big, the pillows in the bedroom is lumpy and hard, not befitting the 5 star hotel brand which is a disapointment. The staff service standards are satisfactory but lacks the english knowledge as the majority do not understand simple english making it harder to communicate. I would rate the the hotel as a 3 out of 5.

The location is great and the staff friendly however the hotel needs attention. The air con was not working properly in the room, the bedding was damp and smelled, the bed super uncomfortable with very high pillows that made it impossible to sleep. I booked for 2 adults and 2 children and at check-in was told we only had one bed and I needed to pay for an additional bed. I would understand if this was the case for one small child but how can four people for into one bed? After paying for an additional bed we were then told that only Three people were able to have breakfast as the youngest child sleeping in our bed did not qualify for breakfast. This is unbelievable to me as in the booking process this was not mentioned and there was no mention of additional beds. The staff at the hotel were extremely nice and accommodating and this seems to be a booking issue. I assume that when I make a booking for 4 people that there will be beds for everyone person, as has been the case with very other booking made during this and every other holiday. If an extra bed payment is required then that is made clear and made an option on the booking stage. Also when I book breakfast for a booking for 4 people I assume that all 4 people can have breakfast. Overall the experience has left a negative impression and I am unlikely to book this type of property again. In fact I am unsure of what the point of the accor membership is when I am unable to book a hotel room for a family without encountering these types of issues or having to contact the hotel directly to ensure enough beds are provided and included in the booking.
