We checked in on June 25 around 6 PM and found out the A/C in the room was not running. We were allocated room 803- which was a quite well sized room. As the day was quite warm (32-33 degC) and we had just arrived in Vienna, we were quite disappointed. Upon sharing this issue the front desk attendant was co-operative and offered room 701- which although smaller was cooler and we could hear the air con system running. We moved rooms and requested that if the air con in the bigger room could be fixed we would be happy to move back. Next day we followed up in the morning with the reception and shared another concern that the bath tub was a safety risk for my mother (60+ years old) and that we would like to move to a room with a stand in shower. We were told that none of the rooms in our category was available and that we should follow up in the evening. We again followed up and were told to follow up in the morning the next day at which point I gave up any hopes. Over the 4 nights we stayed, the air con was not able to cool the room adequately (although we had set it to its coldest possible temperature as per the controls in the room). One (of the three) in our group did not sleep well due to this on any of the nights. Our complimentary coffee and tea bags were not refilled one day by house keeping and the used hotel cutlery was also not removed. I honestly do not know if I want to stay again in a Novotel property after this experience.
