Great location, friendly staff. Nice room for the value. Nice that they include the water and minibar complementary. Only detraction is comfier beds / thicker walls for sleep.

My stay at hotel Mercure Vienna first was very pleasant. Every single person was extremely helpful, accommodating, kind and courteous. Everyone went out of the way to make our stay comfortable to make our stay comfortable and safe. It is hard to remember everyone's name, but I must commend EVERY receptionist. They were ALL super helpful, advised us about Vienna, gave so many directions and more. Magda,Kerstin and Yourek who work in the breakfast room, went out of the way to make sure that despite my food restrictions, I had enough and a good variety to eat . The following are reasons because of which I did not give you a 10 : 1) getting in and out of the shower is not safe- you should have grab a bars. This is important not just for the elderly. It is very easy to slip/ trip when you get in and out of the shower which has a raised floor. 2)The lighting in the rooms is insufficient. A good number of small lamps but all in all the rooms are too dark. 3) Taking the phones out of the rooms was done without notifying us. You scared us. The upgrade that you plan, in regard to the phone is unacceptable, unsafe, and in an emergency it can actually endanger a person's life. I tried to chat with the front desk, I'm at home for a week- I have yet to get e response. On the last day of my stay, my key to the room didn't work. I had to get down to the registration desk because there was no way to call it. A guest it the room accross from me ran in to call, but returned embarassed " The room doesn't have a phone" he said. You expect people to use their cell phone, but foreign phones ( Guest from other country) often do not work properly ( I had trouble using Verizon- USA). I don't even want to think what can happen during a night serious emergency whe a Dr or the Fire Dept will be needed.The ewhole idea of no landline in the rooms is dangerouse . You do accept elderly guests.

We had a very pleasant 4 night stay in this well located, comfortable hotel. Our room was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. Many of Vienna!s attractions were within easy walking distance and the hotel provided useful tourist information.
