The Cathedral view was beautiful every time of the day! The welcome especially by Daniel was excellent at check-in and he also provided an umbrella when the rain came. The room amenities were great. I did see a leftover hair by the toilet and was disappointed our stay overlapped with the rooftop renovation. However, with our upgraded room through Chase Edit the ground floor bar was still able to provide an excellent dinner (steak with fries, shrimp were superb!), and I did get to enjoy briefly the sauna and jacuzzi (closed at 9 pm) during our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The breakfast was well serviced overall. Impressive work by the large team. The omelets were fluffy, and coffee made to order was delightful. SO Vienna is located very conveniently only a few steps from Schwedenplatz, one of Vienna's most central and well-connected public transportation hubs. The historic city centre and Prater are easily reached by short walks, the lively Danube Canal in front of the hotel as well as the charming neighbourhood surrounding it complete the picture. We travelled with family this time after our last stay in 2024, which is why it was especially important to us that things would run smoothly. The rooftop restaurant, where we were originally going to spend breakfast, was closed during our stay, an information we only caught through external reviews. The hotel had not publicly communicated the construction. Due to that situation, we had had an extensive pre-communication phase, which came with delays in response during start, but after Joebelle took over, a very effective and friendly exchange emerged. And our wish for generous status as well as premium booking upgrades were more than fulfilled. After a somewhat lengthy, still very friendly check-in, we came to our rooms. One a Junior Suite excellent in proportion and with nice views, the other one the breathtaking Presidential Suite, with unique views of all of Vienna, huge dimensions, a futuristic shower, and minimalistic design. We enjoyed the comfortable and very broad bed, the reliable daily refill of three soft drink plus snack mini bars, as well as two coffee machines. The entirety of the Suite was well-maintained and clean, with some difficulties with hot water and lighting as minor exceptions. The Junior Suite was also in good condition, even though minor stains around the bed and on the bed sheets irritated in the beginning. Special requests were fulfilled rather reliably, whereas turn-down service was not too consistent. Service friendliness convinced on all levels, also during breakfast, which was offered in a replacement room. Selection was OK and product quality decent, even though coffee was not at barista level and the buffet was not in very good shape. A special shout-out to Joebelle, who made our generous upgrades possible and had an extremely pleasant approach to guest services. When we met her in person for the first time, she would even hand us over four drink vouchers for a sister hotel's rooftop bar. Unfortunately, during the friendly check-out, our request for the use of a particular credit card was ignored, so that the final (and very fair) amount was deducted from the wrong card. That was an avoidable error. Nevertheless and after all, the value we received for the paid price was extremely good and we are certainly returning to SO Vienna in the near future.

Well located - walking distance to many attractions and next to U-bahn and tram stop. Great view of Vienna from the higher floors. Very comfortable beds, spacious room. Breakfast was only acceptable, but it's likely due to operational difficulties as a result of temporary closure of top floor restaurant that is being renovated.

We had a very good experience. My only criticism would be that we were not told about the rooftop bar being closed until quite near our vacation time despite having booked a considerable time earlier. This should have been communicated earlier. Otherwise, we had no complaints. The hotel was spotless and well maintained and the staff were very good.

Let me start with the location and staff. We'll located with very kind staff. The rooms are nicely designed but not functional the window cover design needs force to slide it and the bottom parts keep sliding down which is allowing the light to penetrate in. The toilet lighting doesn't help for shaving its dark all the time. As for the housekeeping service it was not up to sofitel level. Either towels missing or in one incident the room was not serviced at all.

Back to the So/ for the fourth time, we are sorry to report that this time our stay proved not as pleasant. Only after the reservation was done we were informed that the roof restaurant and bar, possibly the main attraction of this hotel, was closed for renovation. Our room, 1407, had an appalling bed with the mattress in such disarray that both sides were slanted towards the middle. The safe was impossible to operate and the air conditioning working full blast even if turned off. Still, the location of the structure and the excellent garage are undoubtedly great assets when visiting this extraordinary city.

one of the main reasons of choosing the hotel and booking 4 rooms was the rooftop floor . to my surprise, during checking in I was informed that the rooftop was closed for renovations.Disappointment. What disappoinment me more ,was the fact that no one bothered to inform me about , neither at the time of booking, hotel web site,nor in the days before our arrival at the hotel I don't think this is the right way. What a mistake a I made booking this hotel. I usually stay in Sofitels, and thought this would be a similar experience, couldn’t be farther from the reality. My room is, which should have been a lovely spacious suite with a nice view over vienna. What it is, is one of the most depressing hotel rooms Inge ever stayed it. Cold, uncomfortable and in a poor state of repair. The room is almost fully black in colour, the exception being the multiple chips in the back paintwork revealing grey/white undercoat and the grey concrete-style floor. It has a large u-shape sofa, which is the most uncomfortable sofa I think I have ever experienced. There are multiple stains all over the sofa. Due to the back paintwork multiple what look like grease stains can be seen, alongside all the scuffs, chips and damage to the walls and furniture. The doors to the bathroom area are sliding and dark black, they don’t work properly and have dubious stains on the inside. The view from the room is not great either as the windows are mostly covered up, though one can see which crouching down. Due to this, and the lack of lights, the room is incredibly dark, adding to the sense of depression. To top it all off, the nice roof top bar where breakfast should be is closed, so breakfast is shifted temporarily to what I assume was a meetings space, a large impersonal area with no view. The selection is poor, no fruit available. And the worst croissants I ever tasted - tiny and doughy - come on Accor, it’s a disgrace.

I had an excellent stay at SO/ Vienna. The upgrade was a very pleasant surprise, and the early check-in and late check-out made the whole experience especially convenient. The hotel has a great location on Praterstraße, within easy walking distance of central Vienna and well connected by public transport. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection of high-quality options and a lovely atmosphere. What really stood out, however, was the staff. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, professional, and helpful throughout my stay. Their attentive service made a very positive impression. Overall, SO/ Vienna offered a comfortable and enjoyable experience, and I would be happy to stay here again.
