The level of detail you expect from a five-star hotel was lacking. 1) I was offered to be notified by text message when my room was ready, but didn't receive any notification, and 2) the parking paid for two days was only validated for one day. On the positive side, the beds and pillows are comfortable, there was always a parking spot available, which is not the case at the nearby Mercure. The rooms are OK, but the bathrooms look dated.

Great location, the meal was absolutely delicious, staff were amazing. Disappointed that the outside spa was not working. The mattress needed turning as i kept rolling in the valley of the mattress, needing to sleep on the edge to avert the sliding in effect. Took a while to get pillows that were just right, by second night we were happy with the selection. No hooks in the bathroom, and definitely need a cloth to wipe up spills when making tea or coffee. Should be two cups and two coffee mugs available. Would rate the room a 7.5.

Sadly, the Sofitel experience has gone downhill. The hotel itself is still nice, but the strong perfume/scent throughout the property was quite overwhelming, and our room was dusty, which really set off my hay fever. Room cleaning was also average — the bed was made, but bathroom items weren’t replenished. At checkout, they also wouldn’t accept the drink voucher we had, which was disappointing. As a Gold member, I also didn’t receive the level of recognition or benefits I’ve experienced at other hotels in the group. Overall, it just didn’t feel like the Sofitel experience I’ve had in the past. Hopefully the hotel can lift its standards, as it’s sadly not what it used to be.
