The location of Mercure King George is it's saving grace. It's central, close to public transport and offers a valet service for parking at a reasonable mid-week rate. BUT, aside from the grand foyer entrance, once you step on the lifts you can already feel and smell that your staying in an outdated hotel. The lifts have this old never steam-cleaned carpet. The corridors are riddled with cut-out plaster in the ceiling. The rooms have random scratches on the walls and the furniture has peeling plastics. The bathroom had non-functioning mirror lights. The rooms were reasonable size but the tiny and very dirty window cannot be opened. While the room service did their job. I was surprised that we weren't even provided with bottled water (a staple at any other accor hotel I go to). As an accor member you are provided with free wifi but not at the Mercure King George, they charge a minimum of $10 a day. Finally, everywhere I stay I get an email with a guest satisfaction survey direct to the hotel management, of course I didn't get one from the Mercure (They're obviously not taking any criticisms). I will not be staying there again.

Centrally located hotel giving easy access to downtown Brisbane & Southbank. The room was clean & certainly treated to ensure it was Covid-19 free. The night was topped off with drinks at the Hotel's Rooftop Bar with spectacular views of the city.

Was very enjoyable stay with great service, friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms. This is annoying as it won’t accept my review, why? Just figured out needed more characters which is ridiculous, nearly did not submit.

My wife and I recently had a lovely nights stay at the Mercure Brisbane where everything was fantastic until the end. I stupidly left my book in a Cab on arrival at the hotel. I arranged with the driver to drop it into the hotel next morning. Unfortunately that did not happen until we left on the next stage of our trip. I was assured by the hotel rep I talked to that the book had arrived and that it would be kept for me for when I passed by in 3 days time. On arriving to pick it up as arranged, the book was no where to be found. I can only semis that the book either was thrown out or taken by someone. It seems that staff are unreliable at following through on customers requests and cannot be trusted to accomplish simple tasks when not in the normal line of operations. This is a very disappointing outcome to what was otherwise a enjoyable stay! Colin Baldock Accor Plus Member

My partner and I booked this hotel on Xmas eve...which also happened to be my first stay as a diamond member, accors highest tier. I stay at accor hotels around 3 nights a week with work, so I’m fully aware of what my status (and new status) is entitled to. Upon check in, we had to ask for our complimentary drinks vouchers, we arrived at our room and was surprised with a bottle of warm water each. We rang reception (as I’m used to a welcome gift)...we were told that this would arrive later in the form of a snack platter and bottle of wine, we asked for a red wine. Later that day, instead of the wine we recieved an additional bottle of water to share and a very poor platter with a few bits of chopped fruit on it. As I mentioned above, this was a bit of a special stay for us, being Xmas eve and also my first diamond stay, we decided to stay at this hotel Xmas eve as we couldn’t see family and thought we would try to treat ourselves. We didn’t want to sound ungrateful so never mentioned anything upon checkout...but we were a bit disappointed.

When grabbing a night in the city this is an ideal hotel to stay in. All the staff seem to be dedicated to their jobs, it shows in their keenness to help and assist. . I am pleased that the buffet breakfast was back on for my stay and they have got the rules and regulations perfect. Well Done

Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was a treat in a really nice venue. My second stay and will happily stay again. Having the bus station right downstairs made life really simple and the train is an easy walk.

What a great place to Stay handy to everything. From the moment we checked in to the moment we drove off it was lovely. Handy to all the shops we would go out shop put out feet up and go out again. The food at Goldfinches was lovely. My sister and I both live in Brisbane and have made this an annual event.

Upon arrival we were very dissapointed that the pool was closed- beacuse of covid- We feel if most other hotel pools are open and you are using this as an excuse, was very disappointing. We had specifically booked because of the pool and feel that at least the website should very clearly display this information.

very good bed, was sleeping fast, only downside was the shower didn't have hot water and had to take a mild cold shower.

Arrived around 9.30am by train and was given access to our room straight away. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff always a pleasure to deal with. Meals really delicious but feel sides of bacon could b more.

This Mercure hotel is a bit tired I’m terms of the age of the property but reasonably well maintained. Unfortunately as a Platinum member either the staff had no idea that a room upgrade is warranted or just slackness. This isn’t good enough with near empty hotel to be put on the 4th floor with zero view instead of up on the Privilege Floor. Breakfast menu was also a special menu limited for choices unlike the full menu, disappointing considering the buffet is out in any case. Can’t understand the hotels Policy of underwhelming guests who remain loyal to the brand as opposed to going the extra mile. Seriously considering whether loyalty pays....

Only one thing we missed for this stay was that we missed out on the buffet breakfeast due to Covid 19 which is something we always look foraward to when staying at the Mercure or Pullman. Still happy with the service we recieved.

Across the street from King George Square bus station and a short walk to Central station Means this hotel offers a great central location for a Brisbane stay. Room size ok but amenities a bit sparse. In this time of COVID to find mould in the shower was a surprise.
