I love the sea view in the hotel also the receptionists were professional and I was welcomed nicely when I arrived also they offered me a free breakfast because it was my first time in the hotel and for all of that I will definitely visit again with my family

We have checked in and went to the room expecting the same level of service from this luxury hotel but we were disappointed. The room was not prepared or cleaned after the previous guests which is a huge mistake for a luxury hotel to allow such incident to happen. Then once we went to complain to the manager he apologized with an excuse that it was so busy and crowded the day we checked in. They gave us another room. Once we entered the room there was nothing welcoming. Nothing like the previous visit on 2020 where they provided balloons, flower petals, and dessert. Sofitel hotel is one of our special hotels, it was the first hotel we stayed in at our honeymoon in Auckland NZ. Our plan was to book this hotel wherever we travel. The latest experience wasn't good at all. we didn't enjoy our second anniversary like how we expected

Disappointing luxury experience

So I picked this hotel for 3 reasons, First it was on the gulf, which was good although overlooking a cost guard port. Second the price was good, third it was promoted as a luxury hotel. The last one was a complete disappointment, my understanding this hotel was opened in 2010 and it felt like it was rundown. Neither the hotel or the room were luxurious, I was extremely disappointed at the state of the room specifically as it felt like it was more of a 20 year old 3 star hotel. I've been in older 5 star hotels and they were in better shape, they were not renovated but well maintained. The restaurant was in no better shape as it felt like some common restaurant not a 5 star one. To be honest I would have given the hotel one star, however, I added a second star because of the amazing staff at the hotel, with a couple of exceptions the staff here are some of the best I have encountered, the third star is because of the pandemic, there were things that I did not like such as the buffet breakfast which I avoided after the second time, it was poor and disappointing and the way they did it was not what I expected but it could be due to restrictions due to covid but I doubt that since we had excellent experiences in restaurants outside of the hotel. Also what luxury hotel does not have foam pillows? This is the first time ever I was told they only have one kind of pillow in a 5 star hotel. I slept miserably due tot he pillow. In short, if you are expecting luxury avoid this hotel, I will be doing so in the future and find somewhere else to stay, this is my first experience at Sofitel and I'm not sure I will be willing to consider this brand in the future.

I was disappointed on the service level from the time I entered in, I saw a valet person but didn’t attend me till I approached him and asked for assist. Check in was ok no welcome note and didn’t offer me anything due to am an silver membership holder. Room was good but could have be better clean. Break fast the chef was bit rude when I approved him for a poached egg, I still can’t forget his way of talk with rude look n speech. I need to keep calling n following up on all my request like pool access , hair dryer if I didn’t follow up I end up nothing... the over all atmosphere I didn’t felt a bit of 5 star experience not worth the money I spent for this services. For sure this hotel won’t be in my list again for my next visit..
