Friendly staff who were very helpful in relocating our room to allow windows to be opened due to the lack of air conditioning in the hotel at this time of year. Well appointed privilege room and well presented in room dining and breakfast provision to comply with Covid restrictions.

Having chosen a privilege room for extra space, we were slightly puzzled by the strange layout as it was impossibble to get from the separate toilet to the bathroom when the wardrobe doors were open! Given the current sanitary requirements to eat in our rooms, the work surface / table provided for this was very narrow, and difficult for two normal sized people to eat at together. The bathroom / toilet fan did not turn off when not in use, and stayed on all night, greatly disturbing our sleep. Car park access is steep, narrow, with sharp turns, best suited to small, low cars. Overheight cars would not be able to use the underground parking. Mercure wifi not strong enough to use inour room, but the IBIS hotel wifi (adjacent or underneath our room) was full strength, and since neither were password protected I used that instead.

The car park is not the easiest to access, but works, though large cars would struggle. The room was fine, but space was more limited than expected given that we chose a prestige room for that reason, mainly because the layout was slightly odd, and it was impossible to walk around the bed when the wardrobe doors were open. The toilet is a long way from the bathroom. Bathroom fan was noisy and stayed on all night. This should not be necessary. The occasional tables/ bedside cabinets were very small, the "desk" below the TV far too narrow to work on or eat at, especially as there were 2 people in the room. Having the sofa was nice, but with a great superfluity of cushions. Mercure wifi was weak, but I was able to pick up the IBIS wifi strongly, just as well it was not password protected. The TV dominated the room more than we needed. The decoration using an old map of the Canal du Midi was pleasant and for us, most interesting. The breakfast was plentiful, but very limited in choice, and was not the best value for money compared with other Mercure hotels. I realise that during Covid restrictions it is not easy and we are grateful that food was supplied, but quantity does not make up for lack of choice or quality.

Good central location, comfortable well designed accommodation (some rooms have recently been refurbished). On site secure covered parking plus I felt safe with the enhanced hygiene arrangements and room service food offering.
Small, old, rude staff

Very negative experience - the hotel is old and worn, rooms are small, staff was rude. I was waiting in line while a front desk attendant was apparently slowly doing some papers. The parking is a joke - i was waiting and the entrance for someone to answer the speaker to no avail, I was let in by some other guest that had a key card already. Once parked and proceed to the front desk I was told in a rude way to leave the parking as all slots were already taken. I will NEVER stay in that hotel again and most likely will take my disapoitment to tripadvisor as I felt unwelcomed despite my status
