Overall I had a pleasant stay at the Novotel Erlangen. I had booked the luxury room and was pleasantly surprised that it came with a large balcony with two chairs and a table. The room itself was clean and it was nice to have a separation between bed room and the area where you could sit and work. The staff was very friendly and helpful, both in the reception and in the restaurant. There are two things that I noticed that leave room for improvement and kept me from rating my experience higher than a '7': 1. Though the bathroom seemed overall clean, there were stains (I hope it was soap or shampoo) on the inside of the door and there was mold on the construction for the glass screen on the bath. 2. The matras of the bed felt like it had seen better times. I have had worse, but in most (Accor) hotels the matras was better than the one I have at home.

We received a very warm welcome at check-in. However, there was a certain lack of professionalism during the rest of our stay. The staff left a child sitting on the floor, crying, in front of the entrance door. This is deeply disturbing and reflects a lack of compassion and professionalism, even toward other guests. The hotel’s other shortcomings are minor in comparison.
