One-night business trip stay, and honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I've had in a long time. Multiple things went wrong: 1. Wrong name on all correspondence – The booking was made via TravelPerk by my colleague Lucas, who listed me as the second guest. The hotel had my name and loyalty number on file, but every email I received — booking confirmation, online check-in, feedback request — was addressed to Lucas, not to me. Your system should pull the guest's name, not the booker's name, for guest-facing communication. 2. Loyalty status ignored – I'm an Accor loyalty member and my card was on file, yet a colleague with no status got the balcony room while I got a standard one. 3. Noisy room – My room faced a busy street with constant traffic noise all night. 4. Safe not reset – The in-room safe was locked and hadn't been reset after the previous guest, so it was unusable for my entire stay. 5. Dried-out toothpaste – The toothpaste given at reception was dried out and unusable. 6. Broken shower controls – The hot/cold water switch in the bathroom didn't work, so I couldn't properly wash. I personally recommended this hotel to my colleagues. This is not the standard I expect from Mercure or from Accor loyalty treatment, and I expect the hotel to make this right — a discount code or comparable compensation for a stay this far below basic essentials.

Arrived and had a surprise upgrade which was lovely. Hotel was clean, staff were lovely. We decided to have breakfast in the morning which was not already booked, this was no problem, we paid on our way out of the hotel for the day. Breakfast had all the choices you could ask for! Bed was lovely and comfortable, room was nice with a balcony. Only thing I would have liked would have been a little fridge to put milk or drinks in for our stay.

I stayed there for 3 nights on a business trip. Superior room, with access to 5 items (drinks or/and bites) every day. The hotel is quiet and clean, staff is professional. The only missing points for me are: a recent TV screen with cast possibility, a gym room and an easy access by car to the hotel. I had to park 300 m away in a public parking lot for another 18 EUR per day.

Mercure Hotel Aachen am Dom Stay: 30 June – 3 July 2026 Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Mercure Hotel Aachen am Dom. The hotel’s biggest strength is undoubtedly its excellent location, making it an ideal base for exploring Aachen and even taking day trips. While there are a few areas that could be improved, we would still consider staying here again. What We Loved * Outstanding location. The hotel is just a short walk from Aachen Cathedral, the Treasury, the Town Hall, shopping streets, numerous restaurants and cafés, as well as bus stops with convenient connections to various destinations, including Maastricht. * Friendly and welcoming staff. Everyone we interacted with was courteous, helpful, and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. * Thoughtful snack concept. Instead of stocking a minibar with items we probably wouldn’t use, the hotel provides five complimentary snacks each day that guests can choose themselves. We found this to be a practical and much more appreciated gesture. Areas for Improvement * Elevator availability. During our stay, only one of the two lifts was operational, which often resulted in long waiting times, particularly during busy periods. * Breakfast value. The breakfast offered a reasonable selection, but we didn’t feel it offered particularly good value for the price charged. The place was completely packed and in chaos! A better alternative would be to save your money and go to a local bakery nearby for a hearty breakfast! * Air conditioning. With the unusually hot European summer temperatures during our visit, the room’s air conditioning struggled to keep the room comfortably cool, especially at night. * Power outlets and charging speed. We noticed that charging our phones and laptops was unusually slow, regardless of which outlet we used. This was inconvenient when trying to recharge devices overnight. * Bathroom safety. A non-slip mat or similar safety feature in the bathtub/shower would be a welcome addition to reduce the risk of slipping. Overall, this is a well-located hotel with friendly service and several thoughtful touches. If the cooling, lift availability, and a few room amenities were improved, it would provide an even better guest experience.
