We recently stayed at this Novotel in Barcelona as a family of four (two adults and two children) for six days. Overall, the experience was average—nothing particularly stood out, and it didn’t quite meet expectations. On the positive side, the hotel was clean, conveniently located, and getting around the city from here was easy. Basic amenities were in place and satisfactory. However, there were several issues that affected our stay. The swimming pool was not operational at all, which was disappointing. More importantly, the air conditioning was not working during our stay, which made things quite uncomfortable. Additionally, our bathroom door broke, and despite informing reception three times, no action was taken. We eventually had to go down ourselves the next day to request a room change. Breakfast was included, the spread was again average but every morning it was extremely crowded. It seemed the hotel was fully booked, yet the seating capacity in the breakfast area was insufficient to accommodate guests comfortably. This is something that clearly needs improvement. We dined multiple times (7) at the in-house restaurant as there was nothing around and had almost everything on the menu on Benmino While some dishes were ok—particularly the steak, bacon and squid — others were inconsistent and underwhelming.especially purple potato with spicy sauce over engineered . And pork with bacon absolutely disaster. Another challenge was communication. Most of the restaurant staff did not speak English, making it difficult to interact. Additionally, menus were not readily available at the table and had to be accessed online. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi was down for two days, making even this basic access frustrating. Overall, the stay felt oversold and did not live up to expectations. It was an average experience at best.

Room size was normal. But extended bed was broken and very uncomfortable. We didn’t find staff friendly as it felt like that they just doing their job to be there. Air conditioning wasn’t working either so we have to leave window open during night. Likely our room window was facing the back side of the hotel so it was less noises in night. Some good things were games for children at the entrance. And it’s kids friendly.

Stayed 4 nights 8-11 April 2026. The room had cooling issues and too hot. The front desk organised a fan which did not work . It seems the temp is controlled from the center even through rooms had a temp controller. Intimately I had to open window and sleep with the traffic noise. No provision for tea and coffee , no milk no cups. Room card had to be re- coded each night of my stay which meant I had to queue up daily to get into my room The most embarrassment was on the 9 April when the front desk staff came running for me that I had not paid in front of all my friends and family and I had to show receipt. The was no sense of discretion shown or apology. Swimming pool is not functional which waa not informed on the Accor site when I booked Having said that the hotel has some positives the staff in the restaurant was very responsive and the room cleaners are great and thorough. Lots of kids activities. The management may want to review the checkin check out experience which was very ordinary I have frequently been to Novatel and I know your standards are far better than this
