Nice hotel, but room smelled of smoke, strange check in...

Overall I think the hotel and the rooms are nice! But please remind guests that they should not smoke in the rooms! Unless you have dedicated smoking rooms. My room (340) smelled really bad - why did I not complain? Well, initially I thought I could tolerate the smell and that I could get rid of the smell by opening the window. Unfortunately, I was wrong and the next morning I had a headache.... the check in was also weird - no front desk? The receptionists looked really vulnerable just in front of the entrance (air current). Guests were also confused because they couldn't find the front desk... Online check in was also not registered... (was a waste of time for me :-( ) Restaurant and staff very nice! Food good! Except the 2 coffee machines in the breakfast rooms -- > slow, coffee not great and the software is confusing..

Staff are polite, helpful and cheerful. The room is spacious. The location is good for calling Uber to and from the airport. The room is clean.

Good Location for my needs

I was in town on business, working at the WTC which is just a few hundred meters from the hotel. The proximity to the airport and my office are both great. For a US traveler this hotel is a bit of a stretch. The primary issues that I had were essentially non-functioning AC during a heat wave in Spain, and internet that just flat out didn't work. The restaurant in the lobby is good and the service overall was positive. The room was normal size by European standards, but there were clear signs of maintenance neglect over the years like chipped and broken tiles, marks on the walls, and some mold in bathroom. I chose this based on location and availability given this was a last minute trip and will try something different next time.

Score 0 to 10. Location: 8/10 (Very easy access to main road to go to BCN Airport). Room & Amenities: 7/10 (Novotel style but room need to maintain the bathroom style and bathroom seem out of date). Bar & Restaurant: 9/10 (Very varieties of food and drink, food was delicious). Staffs & Service (At Reception & Restaurant): 7/10 (busy hours will take for a while to get a service). Cleanliness: 7/10 (Novotel need to pay attention on public area). Overall: 8/10 (One night is convenience, at least you feel a bit holiday before arrival to your destination).
