Appreciated the room upgrade thanks to my Accor membership. Very comfortable room with nice views,decent coffee machine, complimentary water etc. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the bar area on the ground floor was great. Only slight complaint, TV in the room powering up but no signal on any channel.

The hotel is very well located but is quite tired in places. The welcome at reception left a lot to be desired with key information missing and it taking too long overall. Menus for the restaurant were very tired, peeling and sticky, and left me questioning whether I should eat there, which I ultimately didn't. On the day of checkout, housekeeping were trying to get in the room before checkout time, even though I had put a do not disturb sign on the door. Trying to work in the morning after breakfast was made challenging with maintenance happening immediately outside my room. Breakfast was good as far as what was provided but the set up needs some thought as it doesn't flow well and where you'd expect to see milk, it's not, where you'd expect cutlery, it's not. Just needs a bit of a set out rethink to make it easy for people so they don' have to go hunting for what they need.

The lifts were out of order. Only 1 was working and it was extremely slow. Many people were complaining about this. It wasn’t ideal when we were in a hurry to get to our event at Excel. The pillows were old and very lumpy, as were the beds. The rate was expensive, £200 per night which didn’t include breakfast. We ordered both drinks and food in the bar, but were then stopped from eating one of our own meals alongside it (my partner has allergies which is why we needed to bring a meal with us).
