My wife booked and when she passed the booking confirmation to me just before our trip I realised she had booked for the wrong night. We immediately phoned the hotel to say we needed the next night instead and apologise for our mistake. I’d already checked if there were spaces and there were. I expected to pay a penalty but to lose the whole cost and have no interest taken in our booking the next night felt like we didn’t matter at all and it seemed greedy. Such a shame because I’ve booked Ibis weekly in the past and have even made the same mistake and my booking was just switched with no issues.

Dear Mr C., Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am very sorry to read about the frustration you experienced regarding your reservation. I completely understand how disappointing this situation must have been, especially as you had hoped to simply move the booking to the following night after realising the date had been selected incorrectly. Unfortunately, reservations made through Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) or third-party platforms cannot be modified or amended directly by the hotel. These bookings are managed through the external provider’s system, which means that any changes, including date amendments or cancellations, must be requested directly with the booking platform that processed the reservation. In such cases, the hotel unfortunately does not have the ability to alter the reservation or override the conditions attached to it. I appreciate that this may feel inflexible, particularly when availability was present for the following evening. However, the rate selected for the reservation is typically subject to the terms and conditions set at the time of booking, which in many cases are non-modifiable or non-refundable. Because the booking is controlled by the third-party provider, we are required to follow those conditions. That said, I am genuinely sorry that this left you feeling that your loyalty to the brand was not valued. This is certainly not the experience we wish any of our guests to have, particularly those who have previously stayed with ibis Hotels regularly. Should you encounter a similar situation in the future, I would always recommend contacting the booking platform immediately, as they are sometimes able to request a modification on the guest’s behalf. Alternatively, reservations made directly through Accor channels or the hotel can often allow us greater flexibility in assisting with changes where possible.
