location good, service really junior ("what is a sancere, mister"? for eg). how can you have such old carpets and furniture outside on the terrasse? old rooms breakfast good location very good matress good

Reception not manned on arrival. We got the attention of a woman in adjoining room on her computer, she came out and advised us we can only stay on 1st floor on weekends! She tried to see if a room at nicer part of hotel was ready. She checked with cleaning staff and we got a room at end of corridor overlooking the marshy part of the river and across to all the camper vans on the opposite side. Room was big and widow large. Husband saw otters and other wildlife but was bitten by many mosquitos coming into our room. They area was peaceful. Receptionist told us no food available as all staff called in sick. She offered no local area map nor any advice or tips on where to eat or get food. We just wandered empty streets of Nevers until we found somewhere for a drink. If the hotel got a renovation , exterior and interior it is not in a bad spot and could make more of itself and bring more business in. It appeared empty of guests when we were there, it had a nice terrace area but we didn't feel welcome enough to order drinks there ( if any even available)!.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected absence of our restaurant staff on that particular evening. This exceptional situation unfortunately impacted our usual food service. Nevertheless, your comments regarding the welcome and local recommendations have been noted carefully, as providing attentive hospitality remains a priority for us. Our location by the Loire does indeed offer natural surroundings, including the nearby riverside camping area, appreciated by many visitors exploring the region. Good location by the Loire, just offset from the city center. Staff at reception and I the restaurant were helpful, courteous and professional. Room was fine, comfortable and quiet. *One point to improve though is the tv: the connection was very unstable and while watching a program, it would suddenly shut off, go to a black screen and after a while, back to the 'smarttv' logo and connected to channel 1. This occurred too many times and was unpleasant and frustrating. The food was good, with a generous breakfast, and A la carte food for dinner offers a decent selection of 3 or 4 entrees, main and then sweets. A special note for the gentleman waiter we had during our dinner, who provided an excellent service. S
