Dislike chain hotels on the whole as they have little room for the individuality that makes a stay memorable. Having said that, this hotel has retained the bones of the previous incarnation, and the rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable. Having a small pool to plunge into at the end of a long day's drive is welcome. I do wish that French hotels would realise that not all travellers like fruit teas, and to provide a choice of black or china teas, plus milk, would be much appreciated! One major gripe is that the registration desk was not staffed constantly, and having to phone and wait for staff presence is somewhat annoying – as is the lack of a restaurant service for dinner. The breakfast however was plentiful and varied.

Road trip stop over in Moulins. Appreciated the swimming pool on a hot summer afternoon. Nice, well located historic building with recently refurbished, spacious rooms. The hotel has no restaurant and its bar is also not very lively. Quiet, relaxed stay.

Bit of a Disaster

1/ Some basic English from any of staff would be helpful 2/ Room allocated changed to larger room but my details not transferred ending being overcharged for the old rooms new guests 3/ To celebrate our 34th anniversary I asked the receptionist to book a restaurant and a return taxi. A generous tip was accepted. Although not her fault the taxi was too late so the evening was cancelled. A phone call though to chase the taxi up when just late would have helped. 4/ The reception lounges were unusable due to one being cordoned off and the other used as a temporary store for hotel equipment/ decorations 5/ Being welcomed to the Hotel with 3 staff sat on the entrance steps smoking

The room had a very bad smell when we arrived,we had to keep the window open for our complete stay.The air con did not work.At about 3.00am there was a delivery to the hotel just below our window with a lot of noise which woke us both up.All in all unacceptable
