Couple of small problems, otherwise perfect

Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room. Filter in air conditioner needed cleaning (i cleaned it after noticing the orange light was on - it was very thick with dirt) and the window leaked when it rained. Also the eftpos facility when checking in wouldn't accept tap-and-go payments, and I only had a phone, no card - so I had to go to the shopping centre to use the atm to get cash to pay for my room.

good for penny pinchers(like me)

I was quite satisfied with our stay but would probably only stay again for one night because of the restricted room in the shower/toilet. Apart from that I was very satisfied. The bed was quite comfortable and the price of course was very satisfactory.

Tired, dirty inside and out.

Tired, Rundown and dirty. Started from the carpark with peeling paint, rubbish in the carpark and Alcatraz looking facade. Room was cold, due to holes around the window and duct tape covering others. Room needed a refresh of at least a deep clean.

Comfortable but not welcoming

One night stay, staff were not very welcoming, no smile or welcome to Ibis etc. I was asked for my license but was not told why or what information was required. When I asked what information from my license is being taken I was told by another staff member EVERYTHING, we take all your information. This could have been requested and provided in a more polite manner. Room was clean, not dusty or dirty but could do with a deep clean to remove long term stains in the floors & shower. A fresh coat of paint wouldn't hurt. Light fittings were not attached to the wall properly but wiring was not visible to call them unsafe. Tea, Coffee, Sugar & Milk were provided. Cups were clean and the jug was clean. Fridge was clean also. Linen clean and bed was comfortable but I would recommend taking your own pillow if you prefer medium-firm pillows as the ones there are quite thin. Room was warm but the traffic is very loud which makes it difficult to sleep at night unless you have headphones to drown out the traffic noise. Plenty of takeaway food places within 500mtrs and easy to walk too including a local hotel that serves all day breakfast. Coles is also just as close. Road in and out can be difficult to enter and exit depending on where your heading too next but if its the airport its an easy exit from here and straight onto the Metro Ring Road. For the cost of the room as a budget room this is a good option but dont expect any outstanding customer service with your room.

Its a budget option, but its tired, run down

Ibis Budget Fawkner is a tired, rundown budget option. Sandwiched between the Metropolitan Ring Road, Sydney Road and a busy train line, the hotel is simply tired. The car park is dirty and the outside facade needs a lick of paint. The bars on all the windows was foreboding of the experience. The entrance is small, the foyer nonexistent with just a small checkin desk. Check in was simple enough, no tap payments available, even though its 2022. Get ready to walk up stairs with your gear, no lifts available here. The room is typical Ibis Budget, small. Though the room was also tired. Broken light fixtures, holes around the window, one sealed with duct tape, dust and grime all around the heater and just dirty. Shower was dirty, looks like it was cleaned then not rinsed properly. Toilet was fine. Bed and linens were fine albeit a hard bed. I'd suggest you avoid....Until it gets a facelift.
