The hotel rooms were okay. I booked 2 different rooms for 2 different people. One was a Deluxe room and the other a standard room. The upgraded room was exactly the same as the standard hotel room that I booked. Also there is a problem with the heating. In the middle of winter where you need heat, we would increase the heat in the room but it didn't stay on for very long before it would automatically turn off. Obviously it is on a very short timer. The room is then freezing again!!! This was not pleasant as I said in the middle of a Melbourne winter!!!!

I had the penthouse and the heater would not work the room would not go above 21 degrees. I called the front desk and she asked me to make sure it was turned on which was evident by the green light. The lady from the front desk even came up to check and it was turned on but the room would not go up in temp. She provided one portable heater and two single blankets but I still had to sleep with my clothes to stay warm. Upon check out the next morning the front desk tried to tell me that I didn't have it turned on according to maintenance, I took a photo of the wall unit showing the green light and the on starters so don't appreciate being accused of lying especially when the staff member from the front desk verified it was turned on. All I was offered on checkout was one free breakfast. I said that wasn't sufficient compensation and requested to speak to the manager. I was informed I would receive a call the next day, by lunchtime Tuesday still nothing so I rang. Compensation offered was not suitable or proportionate, I had to request what I felt was barely suitable. If this was a small family-owned operated hotel I wouldn't have been so upset but to have this kind of treatment from a international brand and in one of the most expensive rooms available, this has left me very upset.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff were rude and unwelcoming, which made for a disappointing first impression. The room lacked the standard in-room amenities and complimentary toiletries I would normally expect. There was no tea or coffee, toothbrush or toothpaste, hair ties, shower cap, pen and notepad, slippers, robe, or hair conditioner. I had booked and paid online for a twin double room with breakfast included. However, the front desk staff insisted I had only booked a basic deluxe room and that breakfast was not included. When I showed my booking confirmation, it simply stated that my reservation had been confirmed and did not list the room type or inclusions. Despite explaining that this was the only confirmation I had received, I was repeatedly asked to provide proof. Next time, I'll be taking screenshots of every booking detail. To make matters worse, I asked the kitchen staff if I could have a cup of coffee from the self-serve coffee station, but I was told I would need to pay the full continental breakfast price of $20. Charging the full breakfast rate for a single coffee (that would have been instant coffee anyway) felt unreasonable. Overall, the lack of customer service, poor communication, and missing basic amenities made this a very disappointing stay.
