Bedroom is spacious, although television can only be best viewed from bed. No ABC news 24 channel available. A pity the bathrooms are so narrow, otherwise a luxury feel. Great that a window opens. Stay was negatively impacted by strong smell of mould from behind/below the fridge. (Fridge itself looked clean inside, but overpowering smell of mould.) When I reported the mould smell (in a new room), the gentleman concierge said it was a job for housekeeping. It was not. It is a much bigger job than that to rectify. It is likely a design fault. A pity. This has the potential to be an excellent hotel, when the cafes are functioning, the stairs are open, the kitchenettes have equipment and the fridge mould problems are solved. My room was very quiet and had excellent views to the north. Overall staff were helpful. Had a lovely evening meal at the Stolberg hotel on the corner of Plenty Rd. If patrons can use the pool next door this will be an asset. This hotel has the potential for excellence, but is not there yet.

Visiting Melb for work. The hotel was spacious and the rooms were really nice and well equipped. Only thing to work on would be the adjoining hotel as we went there for breakfast and there was the choice of yoghurt or yoghurt and there were no disposable cutlery etc. However, the Mantra was really pleasant overall.

The room was excellent and the bed very comfortable. There was a 10 minute fire alarm alert at 5.00am which was a technical failure, which was no ones fault, otherwise stay could not have been better.

Banging from construction work from 7:30 at on a Saturday was annoying

No coffee (before 12noon) or breakfast available is extremely poor, even during renovations. This should have been explained prior to stay. Also had interruption to water supply in my room, which thankfully didn't affect me. Staff were good to deal with, just the hotel itself and management decision not to do food and drink before 12noon is disappointing. I'll be staying else where next time.

The gentleman on the desk upon arrival was extremely helpful, welcoming and lovely. The security guard that was there helped me locate my late night delivery pizza and was also very helpful and friendly.

The hotel staff were fantastic. Easy location to find via bus. Room decor dated and needs a refresh. Television remote required each channel to be inputted. Which was painful so I just stared out the window.
