The elevator made scary noises, the pod coffee machine in room was impossible use, getting around the lobby and car park was very confusing, wasn't enough power points in the room, and it felt quite old and out-dated.

I was at Novotel Prestons for a work trip. The facility was nice, staff were accommodating. However, upon check in I was required to provide my personal card for a bond, as only the work account wasn't sufficient (this requirement changes depending on the visit...). I was also told I got a room upgrade, only to open the door and there was a large pole in the center of the room pressed between the bed and desk. I was not able to get to the other side of the room without being pushed against it and had to lift my suitcase over the bed to get to that side. I am grateful I do not have a disability or a large frame and could fit. Additionally, once I returned home from my visit, I was shocked to see the full amount for my stay charged to my personal card - my personal card that I was assured was only for a bond. I had to get this rectified with my company's travel agent. Overall the facilities are nice and clean, however these downsides did not make the trip very pleasant...

We chose the hotel as it was close to an engagement we had. We were impressed with the room and the restaurant. Check-in was disappointing as I had prebooked breakfast only to be told I hadn’t and even when I argued I was charged extra. This was later refunded but wasn’t a good first impression. Lifts were noisy as if a part was loose too. Room was above expectation and overall it was a good stay.
