No welcome amenity unless you ring and ask, have to leave hotel to get your welcome drink, bed is like rock, can’t have aircon on at night cause it’s too loud, wifi is so slow, shower goes hot cold hot cold , checking in for breakfast and told they gave my breakfast to someone else

I checked in and the young lady at reception was absolutely lovely and that is where the good feedback stops. The hotel was noisy due to the location. The corridors and dark and musty. My room on level four resembled a dorm room or fancy prison. Smelt musty, hard bed, tiny bathroom and I decided I wasn’t going to be uncomfortable as I had an early start. So I checked out immediately and got myself another hotel room for only $40 more that was fabulous. You should not be able to advertise this as a four star hotel, it’s misleading and incorrect.

I stayed overnight for a business trip, and sadly after what was otherwise a decent stay, I woke up in the morning to find someone’s false eyelashes stuck inside the sheets, meaning that the sheets were just reset after the last person stayed, and weren’t changed. I don’t wear false lashes as I’m allergic to the glue. I notified hotel staff when I was checking out, and they apologised and said that’s unfortunate but said sorry they can’t do anything about that now because they had already clicked the button to check me out, and said they would need to talk to their manager later. There was someone else waiting behind me so I suspect that this was just to get me out of the way to serve the next person. I haven’t heard from the hotel since, and have been left feeling really disappointed. In terms of the amenities in the room, I would have like to see bottles of water in the room, and snacks available for purchase.

There is a clear misrepresentation in how the hotel presents its services, particularly around housekeeping. The lack of housekeeping options is not advertised, which creates an experience that contradicts the expectations set prior to arrival. There are also absolute inconsistencies in the hotel’s sustainability claims. While the property promotes a socially conscious image, in practice I have not observed any meaningful waste‑sorting efforts or the same sustainability standards upheld at other Accor hotels, which offer a far more credible and transparent approach. Although the staff are friendly and polite, the overall experience feels lacking. There is no sense of forward thinking, nor any meaningful acknowledgement of loyalty status as an Accor member, which further diminishes the stay. Please note that I have abstained from mentioning any further issues!

Elevator wasn't working for half of my stay. I wanted a late 2pm checkout and the person behind the counter wanted to charge me $20. I am a gold customer and always get it for free.

Terrible. No parking onsite and not communicated which Wilson Parking is correct on Russell St nearby wasting another 20minutes after needing to park in laneway next door.. Room was below spec with the air-conditioning not capable of warming room either

I read a lot of negative reviews on this place but my experience was very positive. The location is outstanding, would highly recommend for that alone. The room was old but clean and suitable for a night's sleep, which is all I needed. I was extremely grateful that the heating was consistent too as I've had terrible luck with heating in Melbourne hotels. No complaints from my end. If you're after all the frills then this isn't the place to book.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Melbourne CBD and next to Chinatown. However, our room was not cleaned properly prior to us checking in - there was still chocolate wrappers on the phone and there were small pieces of tissues around the room on the carpet. There were only two lifts and one was out of service for the full 3 days we were there. We had to wait a long time as we were on the top floor and the hotel was busy due to the NFL games. The bed was very old and uncomfortable and you could feel the springs. I do have backpain so it made it worse and was really difficult for me to get up in the morning. I also felt the rooms were smaller than the standard Mercure hotel rooms and didn't have much space between the bed and desk.

I have been an Accor member for years, and every where I have stayed has been excellent, and I have stayed at the Mercure several times. This time I wanted to use a stay night, and pay for a night. The staff on duty weren’t even interested in checking I could do this. As you will see from my stay history, I recently stayed at the Swan Valley Novatel, whose staff bent over backwards to accommodate my request for the same deal, with no issue, and $750 for two nights at the Mercure, was way over the top. The Swan Valley Novatel is definitely a place we would stay again. At the Mercure, no water in the fridge, 30% discount on breakfast, like wow, at the Swan Valley, and most others I have stayed at, have 2 for 1 breakfast. The room had a noisy AC that we couldn’t leave on at night, the mattress had a broken coil sticking out of the side reaching the top, all the usual appliances, and nowhere safe to plug in the kettle. I mean, come on, some respect for intelligence. Even Motel6 in the US has better standards. I have stayed at several Fairmont resorts, whose standards are higher than anywhere else I’ve been, so yes, I feel qualified to make my opinion based upon experience, and sadly, the Mercure is way below par. The only person who actually showed some interest in good service, was the duty manager at the Louden, who was really interested in good service, and the food was reasonable, but not outstanding, compared to other hotels in your group. So, you could say, I was a little disappointed.

The ROOM (1142): Booked a twin bed, room for father & son trip, the room was perfect example when it did not look the brochure :( Small room with even smaller bathroom, not suited for people over 6'4", beds on wheels so the move with you, and where it says single beds, it is single, not king single (That's on me). Bathroom tiny, if you are broad shoulders be prepared to shower sideways, and with the bar fridge situated open in a cabinet you will wake up every time the compressor kicks in. SERVICE: Check-in and concierge get 10 of 10. Easy fast check-in and check-out, and when it came to collect the bags later in the day, concierge got it done in seconds, even though they were very bus. RESTAURANT: Only had breakfast, and happy to pay the $30 for the buffet, plenty of the usual buffet breakfast foods and even though they charge $5.00 for one barista made coffee, it was worth it and his coffee was good. SUMMARY: Understanding this is not the Pullman or Sofitel, and the rate was half of them, I still thought a twin share room should have been of higher standard.
