We stayed five nights at this most wonderful hotel. Check-in was seamless with Kielian providing the names of restaurants which were close to the hotel with delicious food. Our contact with reception, no matter who was on, was always helpful and pleasant. The room we stayed in was clean, the bed extremely comfortable and the bathroom adequate. My only slight quibble would be with housekeeping on the weekend, as the soap containers were not refilled. Breakfast was more than adequate if not cheap. Staff were always obliging and any requests if possible, were met. The position of the hotel cannot be better.. It is within walking distance of hundreds of restaurants and a short taxi ride to the main station. In fact when we are arrived in Lyon, a taxi driver informed us that in his opinion this was the best hotel in town. We could not agree more. If you are coming to Lyon we would highly recommend this hotel.

My first stay at the Carlton Hotel Lyon – MGallery Collection was exceptional from beginning to end. What stands out above all is the genuinely warm, generous hospitality of the entire team. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed and cared for with such sincerity that it feels almost like coming home to your parents after a long trip — that wonderful feeling of being expected, looked after, and immediately at ease. The hotel itself is a stunning palace-style property in an unbeatable city-center location. The rooms are beautifully appointed and surprisingly spacious, with wonderful attention to detail throughout. Our room was perfect for two guests and had a lovely balcony, adding even more charm to the stay. I particularly appreciated the luxurious CODAGE Paris amenities — one of those thoughtful touches that makes the experience feel truly special. The location could hardly be better. Many of Lyon’s best restaurants, cafés, shops, and major sights are within easy walking distance. For those who like to keep up their fitness routine while traveling, there is also a brand-new ON AIR Fitness gym less than 100 meters from the hotel. Another highlight is the team’s willingness to share their personal “keys to the city” — recommendations for restaurants, cafés, and addresses that Lyon locals genuinely love. Rather than simply handing you a list of tourist spots, they take real pleasure in helping you discover their city like a local. This personal approach makes such a difference. Beautiful surroundings and an excellent location are important, but it is the people who turn a great hotel into a memorable one. The Carlton Lyon team manages to combine the elegance of a grand hotel with the warmth and familiarity of a home away from home. This was my first stay at the Carlton Hotel Lyon, but certainly not my last. I am already looking forward to coming back very soon. Merci à toute l’équipe for a truly wonderful stay!

We stayed a few more days in Lyon after a Viking River cruise. The room was clean, the bathroom spacious, but the air conditioning was poor not cooling the room well making sleep difficult. Also, there was a single stool in the room as the only furniture besides the bed, making reading a book uncomfortable. The staff was exceptional as was the breakfast. We would return again (amazing location) but would hope the air conditioning and furniture issue would be solved.

Carlton Hotel is a visually striking hotel with its red corridors. The room was spacious, the bathroom was full of natural light which we appreciated. Notably, we appreciated that the staff gave us bottles of water before going out in the heatwave!

We stayed at the Carlton (in a heatwave) before our river cruise and from the moment our taxi arrived we were impressed and pleased by how helpful and friendly the staff were. One of our rooms was ready so we were able to check in a little early to drop our bags before exploring the old city. We enjoyed an excellent lunch at a place recommended by the front desk staff just a few minutes walk away. The hotel is located just off a pedestrian street which makes for a great stroll to the central plaza and even the funicular. Our rooms looked right into the main public plaza but were quiet, cool and comfortable all night. Strongly suggest that you book their breakfast as well, it was delicious! The Carlton exceeded my expectations and we look forward to our return.

Even before the visit, the staff had been very accommodating with my booking requests. The hotel's location is convenient and I got good recommendations for dining from the staff. They were also very helpful and attentive. The room was we booked was the standard European size, but the amenities we needed were available. Overall, it was a nice taste of Lyon.
