Front desk, personnel, housekeeping, breakfast coordinator, we’re all wonderful. But we were there for three nights and on the morning after the second night, we again mentioned that the AC was not working properly. Finally the technician fixed it and it was a little better for our third night. We then stayed for a fourth night with a tour group, in a different room, and the air conditioning did not work again all night. It really ruins a stay when you’re unable to sleep comfortably. Also having paid for breakfast and then looking at the breakfast served at the Novotel I think it was a very paired down breakfast comparing the two brands. With a total price of the hotel room for three days I don’t believe we received our moneys worth.

At the same time, I am very sorry that the air conditioning affected your stay so significantly. We completely understand how frustrating it is when you are unable to sleep comfortably. We are pleased that our technician was eventually able to improve the situation, but we regret that the problem occurred again during your subsequent stay in a different room. This is certainly not the experience we want our guests to have. Regarding breakfast, I would like to clarify that the breakfast offering is indeed different between Novotel and ibis, as they are two different hotel brands with different standards and price points. At Novotel, breakfast is offered at CHF 32 per person and corresponds to the breakfast offering of a 4-star hotel. At ibis, breakfast is offered at CHF 19 per person and corresponds to the offering of a 2-star hotel. We therefore understand that you noticed a difference between the two breakfast concepts. We are sorry that, considering the total price you paid, you did not feel that you received good value for your stay. The room was nice and big and a cot was delivered after we checked in. The main issue was with a young agent at the desk who appeared to very dismissive and immature. E.g., when we asked to leave our bags in storage, his first reaction was “there is no space” which was annoying given when he checked 5 minutes later, there was plenty of space. When we returned, I informed him I left my wedding ring in my room, his reaction was “nothing has been reported, we will let you know if something is found” which again was extremely unhelpful. Thankfully an older and more mature person at the desk asked us for our room number and advised they would verify if housekeeping had checked the room or not.
