We had a nice room that complied with our requests. The one drawback was the design of the bathroom. The water was not contained in the defined shower space—there needs to be a much better barrier to keep the water enclosed. The whole bathroom got very wet and the shower mat was soaking. Nothing dried out overnight. It didn’t feel very safe and made it hard to function with such wet towels. There needs to be more places to hang things and better ventilation. Breakfast was great!

The front end were hospitable and helpful. The cleanliness was horrible. Dirt and crud were ground into the carpets everywhere. In front of our room in the hall grew a blob of something that just spread into the carpet. That was for five days.

We had a great stay! Lovely staff, we felt very welcome and warmly greeted. Bar had good opening times and room was fresh and really good cleaned. Unfortunately, the wifi wasn’t working in our room at all times which was a bit unconvenient as we barely had any cellular service either.

The location was very convenient for the Royal Mile. The rooms are tiny, and do not have AC. As Europe does not have screens on the windows, I had to keep the windows closed and still could hear the people from the close below. The noise did not keep me awake though. The beds were an adventure. I would say it was a 3in matress on top of an encased box spring, which was then set in on a wooden frame. Think college dorm room. Given the price, it could have been better. The room was clean and housekeeping was great - they made sure we had clean towels and even though only there for two nights, I felt they cared about doing a good job! The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly.

Overall, a good and positive experience. Wish there were slightly bigger tables ( eg. for the kettle) and on the sides of the bed to put a C-pap machine, my books and charge my phone. A bit tight in the room. Daily breakfasts were plentiful. Helpful and friendly staff.

Very Small Room smelled like cat piss. Large damp spot outside bathroom door on carpet we could not figure out what it was from nor why it was getting larger. Mattress about 2” thick and kept sliding off. Only one small pillow upon arrival. Walk-in shower with no shelf or ledge for toiletries. The only thing this hotel has going for it is location right on Royal Mile. Loud at night. Would never stay here again.

Very good location but hotel only average: tiny room and bathroom with stained carpet; noisy at night (druggies in the square). Breakfast good. Overall the hotel was OK but we wouldn’t recommend it or use it again.
